Aspirants must attend an entrance test (KEAM) and qualify within a rank of below 4000. For mechanical engineering cut-offs for general category was within 4000 ranks in KEAM entrance. Govt engineering college Thiruvananthapuram (GECB) also offers courses like BTech in Civil engineering, Electrical and electronics engineering, Electronics Engineering, and Information technology. GECB is the only college in South India that offers a course in collaboration with Mercedes Benz (ADAM).

The fee for my course is Rs 8,000 per semester. For SC ST students course fee reduction was available. There are many scholarships available for students like E Grantz, MEA (Malayalees Engineering Association) scholarships, National scholarships, etc. More than 70% of students who got scholarships. The loan is absolutely needless as fee structure is affordable for all categories of students.

Academics & Faculty : College begins at 9'0 clock and up to 4:00 pm. College buses are available with affordable charges for day scholars. There is a systematic way for projects, exams, and assignments. Quality and method of teaching are outstanding and unexplainable. College is blessed with faculties who are postgraduate from IITs and NITs. College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : Two hotels are available for girls. Ladies hostels are situated inside of the campus. Hostel fee is about 1500 per month. Gecb also offers post graduation programs in mechanical engineering and electrical engineering. Our college is blessed with a clean and hygienic canteen offers delicious food. especially chicken biryani for just 55 rupees per plate. And also provides meals for just 35 rupees. Quality of classrooms is satisfactory. And each lecture hall has projectors. Labs like Mechanical lab, Electrical lab, electronics lab, communication lab, material testing lab are good. The college has a large library with lots of reference books etc. College offers high-speed free WiFi of 100 MB/s. The main building has two lists. GECB has got two NBA accreditation. And offers Honour's degree in Btech from the 2018 batch.
