The expenditure of each student during the course is supported by ISRO in the form of scholarships or assistantships, and successful students meeting prescribed criteria are subsequently absorbed into ISRO as scientists.

IIST provides Financial Assistance Package funded by Department of Space (DOS), Government of India for students admitted to B.Tech programme, once in a semester, to meet the expenses of education viz. Tuition Fee, Students Amenity Fee, Hostel charges including dining, Establishment charges and Medical cover. An additional Book Allowance of Rs.3000/- is also provided to each student for every semester.

In the event a student, while studying in IIST, fails to secure a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 7.5 out of 10 point scale, in any semester, the student shall be liable to pay all the expenses except Tuition fee and Student Amenity fee. In the succeeding semester if he/she earns GPA greater than 7.5 out of 10, then he/she is exempted from the payment of charges as stipulated above in the following semester.

Fee Structure (Scholarship): The complete cost of education in IIST for all the students are funded through an Assistanceship package offered by theDepartment of Space. The Assistanceship package per student, per semester is as follows-

Fees & Scholarships : The course fee is null as long as you secure 7.5 GPA in a given semester. The scholarship is available to every student in a bachelor's course. Loans are not necessary, in case one doesn't secure required GPA, the course fees
