Placements & Internships : JK Institute of Applied Physics and Technology has some collaborations with DRDO. So every year it sends around 20-30 students(only ECE) to DRDO for internships. DRDO doesn't offer any stipend. But otherwise one has to apply for internships separately as college doesn't offer any such internships.Since JK Institute is a prestigious institute, it is easy to get internships outside the college. Every year companies like TCS, InfoGain, EXL, and Icon, recruits some students giving decent packages. Average package would be around Rs. 4 lakh pa, highest would go up to Rs. 7 lakh pa, and around 70% of the students get placed. Alumni is the best part of this college. The alumni of this college have achieved great heights working in prestigious organizations such as Dr.Zafar Taqvi who worked for many years in NASA, and many such alumni at great positions in great organizations.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : JK Institute of Applied Physics and Technology admits its students based on the performance in JEE MAIN (Joint Entrance Examination). To secure a seat in this college, you have to write JEE Mains and get a good rank in the exam. There are totally 90 seats in the college of which 45 are for ECE(Electronics and Communication Engineering) and the other 45 are for CSE(Computer Science Engineering). There is no certain cutoff for this course. But for a general category student, an All India open category rank below 35000 would mean a good chance and for an OBC student, a rank below 45000, for an SC student, below 100000 and for an ST student, below 200000 would ensure a good chance of getting a seat here. I got admitted in the year 2014 with a rank of 34121. By the way, I am a General Category student. JK Institute is a part of the University of Allahabad or the engineering department of the University of Allahabad. So we get degree certificates from the University of Allahabad. University of Allahabad is one of the top central universities and one of the oldest universities in India.

Fees & Scholarships : Course fee in JK Institute of Applied Physics and Technology is Rs. 35000 per year for General and OBC students for a 1st year, and Rs. 25000 for the remaining years. For SC and ST students, the fees are Rs. 25000 in the first year and Rs. 15000 in remaining years. Scholarships are provided to the students by Uttar Pradesh governments for those who reside in Uttar Pradesh and there are other organizations that give scholarships based on merit. Almost all of the Uttar Pradesh students get complete 100% scholarships, and for students hailing from other states, their government also provides a scholarship. But the private organizations give scholarships to very few students like 3 in 90.

Academics & Faculty : College timings at JK Institute of Applied Physics and Technology are from 9 AM to 4:30 PM. Saturday and Sundays are holidays. Theory classes from 9 AM to 12:20 PM, and practicals from 01:30 PM to 04:30 PM. There will be two exams in each semester for each subject, one is mid-semester that is usually held in the middle of the semesters(October in odd sem and March in even Sem), and the other is end-sem usually at the end of a semester (December in odd sem and May in even Sem). Teaching is done in the old traditional method, and the quality is not great. There are highly experienced faculty members but the number of teachers is less than required. Assignments, projects of good quality will be allotted to students, and marks are given for that. Exam results are given in the form of marks as against most colleges which give grades.

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : There are 2 hostels for boys and 2 hostels for girls at JK Institute of Applied Physics and Technology that accommodate students studying in this college. Although there are 2 hostels for boys, 99% of the students get accommodated in one hostel, the other hostel is old, small and so very few get accommodated there. But there is a point to be noted. Since JK Institute is a part of the University of Allahabad, students of other departments of the University of Allahabad also live in that hostel. There are single rooms and double rooms in the hostel. We can choose in which room we can live. But generally 1st-year students are accommodated in double rooms, most of the students change into single rooms when they come to 2nd year. Hostel rooms are comfortable with all basic necessities (a table, a chair, a cot and an Internet link, an almirah, sockets) with no attached bathrooms. Bathrooms are shared. There are bathrooms in each block. Hostel fee is Rs. 11,000 for single rooms and Rs. 9000 for double rooms. But not all students who apply for hostel are accommodated. There is a shortage of rooms in a hostel, but you can stay with your friends on an adjustment basis by getting permission from a warden.  There are many PGs around hostel most of them charging Rs. 2000-3000 per month. There is a mess in a hostel which charges Rs. 2500 every month. The quality of food is fine or just average. The food is mostly North Indian. Infrastructure is one of the weakest links of this college. Quality of classrooms is just fine with spacious classrooms, good quality benches or seats(in some lecture halls), a sufficient number of tube lights and fans, but the condition of projectors is very poor in most of the classrooms. Though the projectors are not much used, but when it is to be used we have to switch classrooms. Library is small, it contains a few books that are recommended by professors of that college. There won't be much variety or more books on same subjects. Computer labs are well equipped but electronics labs do not have the number of equipment that a lab is supposed to have. College and Hostels are powered by high-speed Wi-Fi, it can be used by only those who study in this college. A form is to be submitted to prove that we are students of this college, and then a user_name and password is emailed to us, with which we can access that wifi.

Clubs & Associations : Entrepreneur Cell, Placement Cell, Alumni Cell are the associations in JK Institute of Applied Physics and Technology. We have an annual fest (cultural, literary) Avirbhav usually held in April every year. Besides that, we have football, basketball, cricket and badminton tournaments that are held in August, November, February, March respectively every year. Life in college is very enjoyable.

Placements & Internships : There are not many opportunities here but you can get internships on your own like My team won in the robotics competition in IIT Bombay and got the privilege for doing an internship at IIT Bombay in Robotics and also got the stipend for that. That was a really a great experience. Also if you choose Electronics and Communications branch then you will get a chance to do an internship in DRDO, Bangalore and civil aviation Airport authority, Allahabad centre during your 6th semester of your course. I did an internship at DRDO Banglore for about 45 days. On campus, Placements are not very tempting here but you can always go for off campus placements if you have skills. Only TCS recruits most of the students and few are taken by companies like EXL, ICON etc. In total not more than 3-4 companies visit the campus for recruitment. This year the highest package is given to 5 students(3 ECE and 2 CS) by EXL of 6 lacs per annum. Rest all were placed at 3-3.5 per annum. Now Alumni are someone whom we can boast about. We have got a large number of alumni who are working at prestigious posts in various public sector units like BSNL, IOCL, DRDO etc. Also, there are so many IES officers from this college in the past in JK Institute of Applied Physics and Technology.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The admission in my college is purely on the basis of JEE Mains(through which you get NITs and other govt. funded institutions) in JK Institute of Applied Physics and Technology . Usually, the cutoff is not very high and ranges from AIR 12000 to even up to AIR 35000. Also, there is one employee quota which I guess exists in every college and approx 10-12 students take admissions from that quota.

Placements & Internships : I have done summer internship in IIT Bombay as i got first prize there in All India robotics competition eyantra in the year 2015 . I have also done summer training in Civil aviation training centre Allahabad for 4 weeks which is provided by the college . Our college also allows the students to do internship in their previous final in DRDO. Now about placement, I can say that its not very good not very bad in J.K.Institute of Applied Physics and Technology. Few companies visit last year like exl , tcs , icon, techmahindra ,infogain etc. Since there are limited number of students in our college, not many companies visit here for placement. There is lot of contribution of alummi in our college.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : J.K.Institute of Applied Physics and Technology , University of Allahabad is a college where the admissions for bachelor degree and masters degree are conducted through All India level exams that is via JEE Main and Gate exam . I took admission in the college in the year 2013 via JEE Main exam. I belong to the general category and my rank was 28000 . So basically the cutoff for general goes up to 30,000 rank. There are only two branches in the college( ECE and CSE). Truly speaking from my experience I can say that it is a good college and provides you a nice platform to grow yourself.

Fees & Scholarships : Fee is Rs. 21000 per year for general that also includes educational tour fee account. So for students who belong to middle class families does not require loan in J.K.Institute of Applied Physics and Technology. Since it is linked to University of Allahabad so there is a scholarship that university provides for the students who got marks above 70℅ and many students have received this scholarrship regularly.

Academics & Faculty : Classes timings are from 9 am to 5 pm that held for 5 days from Monday to Friday regularly . Projects , assignment are allotted to students every semester in J.K.Institute of Applied Physics and Technology. We have all the senior faculty that teaches us the subjects . They all are the masters in their subject and have a lot of experience . Exams are held semester wise. Since this is my last year in the college , all I can say is that I gonna miss my college very much. It provides my a great platform and enhances my knowledge in my discipline.

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : Hostels are also provided by the university during admissions . They are very good and fees vary hostel to hostel . But max fees is Rs. 10000 only per year . Hostel campus is very good with a lot of security . There is a regular mess with a good food. Food charges are not included in the fee . It has been given on monthly basis .

Clubs & Associations : College conducted every year annual fest for 4 days which is held on a large scale . There are different societies for students like art and craft society , music society , food committee etc. Alumni meet is also conducted in our college every year . Fresher's is provided to the new students with a lot of excitement and fun in J.K.Institute of Applied Physics and Technology. Overall it's a great fun to be in the college.
