Kurukshetra University was established in 1957 in an area of 472 acres. It offers a wide variety of facilities to its students. It has a large number of renowned faculties to impart knowledge. Distance Education was initiated by the college to provide higher education to people who could not continue their studies due to various reasons. The Directorate of Distance Education was set up in 1976. It admits more than 20,000 students every year. It has a separate building for distance education students. It has air-conditioned labs and a library that can be accessed by the students. It has been awarded the CSR trophy and received the certificate for Top Institutes in India in 2018. It also received the Top Distance Learning University Certificate in 2016.

Kurukshetra University offers various UG and PG courses under the department of distance education (DDE). Kurukshetra University, Distance Education admission provides a number of courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, Management, Library Science, and Mass Communication. The admission to the DDE KUK courses is based on the academic records. Kurukshetra University admission also offers Lateral Entry programs along with Diploma and PG Diploma in various disciplines. Application form for all the courses can be filled online or can be downloaded from the official DDE portal. Students can also avail of the application form from KUK admission center on payment of the required application fee. Admission to BA, BIM, BCA, B.Com, B.Ed, and B.Lib.I.Sc courses are entirely merit-based. MA, M.Sc, M.Com, M.Lib.I.Sc, LL.M, and PG Diploma courses admission are also granted on the basis of marks in the previous qualifying examination. For MBA and MCA programs, the candidates have to qualify in a Common Entrance Test (CET) inducted by Kurukshetra University.

For admission to BA and B.Com, the student should have passed class XII examination conducted by the State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary education or an examination recognized as equivalent with subjects as may be specified by the University in Arts, Science, and Commerce.

The admission of the students is based on the merit scored by the candidates in the college's entrance test and in the previous year qualifying examinations. Students have to bring all 10+2 transcripts. They should also provide study, Character, and Migration Certificates. For admission to the BIM Degree course, the candidate should have passed class XII examination conducted by the State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary education or its equivalent from the Arts, Science or Commerce Stream. The fee structure will be as per the college norms.

Admission to M.A, M.Com, M. Com, M. Sc in Mathematics, Computer Science Software, and Geography will be on the basis of merit as per the University norms.

The application form for all the courses offered by DDE can be filled in online or offline mode. Follow the below-listed steps to apply.

Online Application

The application form can be filled online followed by online fee submission from the DDE portal or the official website of the university. Candidates have to submit the hard copy of the duly filled application form along with required documents within 15 days of online submission of the application form.

Offline Application

Candidates can also download the prospectus from the official portal of DDE. Duly filled form along with desired documents is required to be sent to:

Payment of Application Fee

• Pay the application fee in the form of DD drawn in favor of “ Kurukshetra University payable at Kurukshetra/ Thanesar”. 
• Eligible candidates can apply online on the university website by filling the application form. 
• The students who have already made an account can check their application status through the student login and for the new applicants can apply by registering themselves on the portal. 
• At the time of physical verification, the candidate must bring a print copy of application form, bank challan (Offline payment) and all relevant documents of online application and original copies of all certificates, mark sheets and testimonials. 
• The Kurukshetra University, Distance Education fee structure will be as per the university norms.
