Manipur University (MU) Imphal was set up on June 5 1980, under the Manipur University Act. 1980. It was converted into a Central University w.e.f. 13/10/2005. Currently, the university has 116 affiliated colleges, including two medical colleges. It is accredited with a Grade 'A' by the NAAC. Manipur University accepts the CUET exams for admission to various postgraduate and doctoral courses like B.Voc, MCA, BA, MCA, B.Sc, B.Tech, etc. Admission 2024 for various UG, PG & Doctoral courses is ongoing.

Manipur University offers over 610 courses across 13 streams: commerce, management, law, science, mass communication, humanities and social sciences, engineering, and arts. Located at Canchipur, Imphal, the capital city of Manipur, the university campus is spread over an area of 287.53 acres in the historic Canchipur, which is the site of the old palace of Manipur "The Langthabal Konung" (Palace), which Maharaja Gambhir Singh established in 1827 AD just after the liberation of Manipur from Burmese occupation.

Manipur University Admission

Manipur University has started the admission procedure for the year 2024. The university conducts CUET for admission in various UG and PG courses like BCA, B.Voc, MCA, MBBS, B.Tech, MBA, PhD, etc. The university considers both the scores, merit-based and entrance exam scores, for admission in relevant courses.

Manipur University Eligibility Criteria

Manipur University has set different criteria for admission to various courses. The students need to meet that criterion to get admission to the university. The primary criteria for some courses are as follows.

B.Sc Eligibility Criteria

• The student must have passed 12th from a recognized board with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
• The student must have a valid score in CUET-UG.

MBA Eligibility Criteria

• The student must have completed graduation with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in any discipline from a recognized university. 5% relaxation for SC/ST students.
• Admissions are granted based on scores obtained in CAT/ MAT/ CMAT/ XAT/ GMAT.
• The final selection is based on students' performance in GD and interviews.

PhD. Eligibility Criteria

• The candidate must have a master's degree with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in the relevant subject.
• A 100-mark internal examination is conducted for admission to PhD and a personal interview. However, the examination is not necessary for specific candidates.
• The selection is based on UGC NET/ UGC CSIR NET/ DBT BET/ GATE/ SET/ SLET scores.
