National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) offer various scholarship to eligible applicants. NIFTEM Merit Scholarship

  • The scholarship is awarded top three students on merit in B.Tech and one student on merit in each M.Tech program. The NIFTEM Sonepat scholarship is paid during the second semester. Following that, only the toppers of each year are awarded scholarships for the following year and subsequent years. It comprises a ten-month tuition fee waiver and a fixed monthly income.

NIFTEM Merit-cum-Means Scholarship

  • The merit-cum-means scholarship is awarded to M.Tech students strictly on merit-cum-means basis to needy students whose family income is not more than Rs 2,50,000. Scholarships are awarded to 5% of students or six students in M.Tech (one each in all the five streams). It comprises a ten-month tuition fee waiver and a fixed monthly income.

Eligibility Criteria

The student must complete the following tasks without interruption.

  • Scholarship for the first semester of the second semester (for B.Tech and M.Tech).
  • For the second year scholarship, the first and second semesters are required. (B.Tech and M.Tech students only).
  • The third and fourth semesters are required (for B.Tech students only).
  • Fifth and sixth semesters, for the fourth-year scholarship (for B.Tech students only).
  • The student scholarships enabled them to complete all of the courses for the semester at the earliest possible opportunity.
  • The student eligibility would be determined by adding the scores from both semesters taken into account.
  • The institute disciplinary committee should not have penalised or sanctioned the student with any major disciplinary action.
  • To appear in the examination, the student must meet other criteria such as attendance and more.

NIFTEM Merit-cum-Means Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

  • The student must meet the institute's and the board of management's merit and means criteria.
  • The annual gross income of the students parents does not exceed Rs 2,50,000. Students are not eligible for a scholarship if they complete their class 12th examination at a school with an annual tuition fee of more than Rs 30,000.
  • The student must have passed all papers on the first attempt.
  • All papers must have been passed with a minimum of a 60% or a B grade.
  • The student should not have been penalised, and the institute disciplinary committee should not have imposed any major disciplinary punishment on him.

Calculation of Merit-cum-Means Scores

  • The merit cum means scores are calculated by giving equal weightage to parental income and merit of students as given below.
Weight age of parental income 50%
Weight age of merit of student 50%

Parent's income weight age will be calculated as under

Annual income below Rs. 1,00,000/- 100 marks
Rs. 1,00,000.00 – 1,50,000/- 95 marks  
Rs. 1,50,000.00 – 2,00,000/- 90 marks
Rs. 2,00,000.00 – 2,50,000/- 85 marks

Amount and Duration of Scholarship

The NIFTEM Sonepat scholarship offers the following benefits to the awardees.

  • Tuition is waived in full for both semesters.
  • A fixed monthly stipend of Rs 1000 for two semesters (August-December and January-May) for ten months per year. This does not apply to those who have been awarded a GATE fellowship.
