National Institution of Mental Health and Neurosciences was inaugurated on 27th December 1974 and is a premier medical institution in Bengaluru, India. The National Institution of Mental Health and Neurosciences was a result of the amalgamation of the erstwhile State Mental Hospital and the All India Institute of Mental Health (AIIMH) established by the government of India in 1954. On 14 November 1994, NIMHANS was conferred a deemed university status by the University Grants Commission (UGC) with academic autonomy. The institute has been declared as an Institute of National Importance by an act of parliament in 2012. Last date for downloading of Admit Card for UG courses & Downloading of PG and UG Admit Card will start very soon.
The college offers various UG, PG, and Ph.D. courses under some specializations. B.Sc and Diploma are the full time courses offered in UG level. MD, M.Sc, MPH, DM, M.Ch, and PG Diploma are the courses offered in the PG level, and M.Phil, Ph.D., and PDF at Doctorate level are offered. National Institution of Mental Health and Neurosciences aims to Promote Mental Health literacy and eliminate the stigma attached to the Mental and Neurological Illnesses by taking the measures and the delivery system to the centers of primary health care honoring the human rights and dignity and to Strive to enhance equitable accessibility of primary care in Mental Health and Neurological Disorders to all sections of society and ages including the vulnerable population.
