National Power Training Institute is an organization under the Ministry of Power. Its aim is to function as a national organization for training in the field of electrical energy systems. It acts as an apex body for initiating and coordinating training programs in the power sector of the country. There are 10 regional institutes set up in the country. The corporate office of NPTI is located in Faridabad (Haryana), and the regional institutes are located at Neyveli (Tamilnadu), Badarpur (New Delhi), Nagpur (Maharashtra), Guwahati (Assam), Nangal (Punjab), Faridabad (Haryana), Alappuzha (Kerala), Shivpuri (Madhya Pradesh), Durgapur (West Bengal), and Bengaluru (Karnataka). NPTI Durgapur campus is one of the oldest of the regional institutes and was established in 1968. It plays an important role in the field of human resource development in the power sector as a leading Institute in the Eastern Region.
