Periyar University started its functioning on 17th September 1997 which is located in Tamil Nadu. The university is named after the great warrior "Thanthai Periyar."  The university has been recognised by UGC and has been accredited by NAAC with an ‘A’ in 2015.

Periyar University Salem has 25 divisions offering postgraduate and research programs, 81 associated schools, five constituent colleges and one pg extension centre. The university has coordinated efforts with different scholastic, exploring establishments and colleges all over the world.
