Government Scholarships

  • The government awards a few scholarships to deserving junior high school students who usually continue to senior high school every year. The scholarships are worth Rs 20 and Rs 24 per month, respectively.
  • Scholarships are available through the excess fees income scheme.
  • Based on merit and poverty, a certain number of scholarships worth half the cost of college fees are offered each year. Students receiving any other concession or scholarship will not be eligible for these scholarships.

Government of India National Merit Scholarship Program

  • Students pursuing 11th, 12th, and professional colleges are eligible for many national scholarships. Candidates are chosen based on their 12th and UG results. Students who pass the test are given a scholarship every month, while those who do not pass are given a prize of Rs 100 and a merit certificate if they are not already receiving a scholarship. They should not earn more than INR 25,000 each year.

State Scholarships for School Teachers Children

  • Presidency College Chennai offers scholarships to children of school teachers whose parents' income does not exceed INR 12,000. Standard. A limited number of scholarships are offered for students in grades XI to the end of their professional education.

The Children of Sri Lankan Repatriates

  • Presidency College Chennai scholarships and fee concessions are given to children of Sri Lankan repatriates studying, subject to specified criteria and circumstances.

Children of Burmese Repatriates

  • Scholarships and fee concessions are given to children of Burmese repatriates studying at colleges, subject to specified terms and restrictions.

National Loan Scholarship

  • This is a merit-cum-means based scholarship. The annual income of the parents should not exceed INR 12,000 per year. 

Ad-hoc Merit Grant Scheme

  • Presidency College Chennai scholarships are available to students from the SC/ST and converted Christian communities pursuing the first-degree course after passing the HSE in the first attempt with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks. There is no income cap, and the subscription can be renewed indefinitely.

  • Scholarships are given to students who want to study Hindi but do not speak the language at home.
