GetMyUni's Verdict on RGPV

  • Bhopal , Madhya Pradesh
Compare

For being one of the top college in Madhya Pradesh, RGPV surely has failed to support many of the academic goals of its students.

RGPV is counted among the top universities of Madya Pradesh. Being a state university, everyone expects it to be high on its deliverables, only to find major voids in its key performance later. It is common knowledge that any top-tier government institution in the country provides the best education, placement, infrastructure, and many more. While Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya ticks off the checklist for quite a few of the attributes, placement and infrastructure remains a growing concern.

However, an unusual scenario one would observe is the high number of recommendations for the RGPV college from the present, past, or aspiring students. It is not the case that the students are unaware of its average placements or failing infrastructure. Then why do the students still recommend it? Part of it is because of its perceived brand value and part being the best among many of the private institutions.

Standard Academic Structure

RGPV offers undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, and diploma courses. The overall course curriculum is designed to be relevant to the current market trend. Although, the course structure cannot be synonymous with being exceptional. Few of the students have been raising concerns to improve the syllabus to be more updated with the current times.

Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya has dedicated faculties who are highly qualified. Their expertise in their respective fields seeps into their teachings, thereby making the lectures more meaningful and practical-oriented.

With all this being said, an aspect that the students complain about is conducting the re-exams for the backlogs at the same time as the current semester exams. This schedule more often jeopardises the students' preparation to clear both exams with flying colours.

Moreover, the administration of the RGPV also delays in announcing the upcoming important events related to the course. For this, the students are left with little to no room for preparation for the prospect events.

The course fees for RGPV are nominal and can be afforded by a vast majority of the students from various backgrounds. There are scholarships available as per the government scheme as well, which the students can avail.

How Good is the RGPV Infrastructure?

Taking a quick look at the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya’s infrastructure, it will seem to be a robust one. The college is spread over a wide area with ample greeneries around. The college itself houses several equipment required for the technical education of the students. Although, the conditions are not in good shape. Often, the equipment malfunctions and are not repaired.

The classrooms are spacious, with some having fans and some air-conditioned; however, again, they tend to often not work properly. In short, the campus has all the amenities and facilities. However, either these facilities need to be updated or fixed.

In addition, the campus can often be found unclean. As per the students, there is a shortage of staff to look into the hygiene factor and take necessary precautions. Apart from this, the college hosts decent sports facilities and a gym. The library is one of the key infrastructure and hosts an impressive collection of books.

The college ground also has the facilities of seminar halls, auditorium, convenience store, atm, etc., to aid the students’ lives. The campus has well-rounded security, and the students are safe inside the premises.

Agreeable Hostel Facility

Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya provides hostel facilities for both men and women. The hostels are maintained routinely and are clean and hygienic. The students are provided with basic amenities like bed, table, chair, etc.

Overall, even though the hostel facilities are not top-notch, it is surely good enough for the students. There is a dedicated mess available that serves good food to the students. Given the very low rate of the hostels, students surely get their investment worth of the student accommodation.

There are also several paying guest options available near the college that the students can live in. As per many students, these PGs are good and reasonable.

Below-Average Placements

In spite of the fact that the college has been successful in apprising a few top recruiters like Meta, Infosys, Cisco, HCL and more, the average package offered by most of the companies is below average. This makes the students less enthusiastic about joining the college. For the majority of the students, the placements play a vital role in the academic journey.

Many alumni have advised prospective students that if their ultimate motive for acquiring the degree is not to get placed, then they can look forward to this college. However, if it is vice-versa, then they would think thoroughly before joining. The highest package offered to the students is INR 18 LPA, and the average compensation offered is INR 3.5 LPA.

Amongst these sub-par salaries offered, one glistening aspect remains. The placement rate is commendable for RGPV. As much as 90% of the students get placed in the college. Although, few branches do see a diminishing placement rate.

Memorable Campus Life

RGPV draws students from across Madhya Pradesh. Having numerous affiliated colleges under its names, the student crowd is vastly diverse and inclusive. Regular college events and college festivals are held.

Students are kept engaged throughout the year. So much so that students have even said that even though the college is just above average, the memories that they have made are irreplaceable.

RGPV does not follow a strict dress code or uniform system. They also have stringent rules and regulations that they have to follow. In many cases, the college administration is lenient. The college also hosts regular sports events.

Is RGPV Worth it?

In case someone’s ultimate aim is not placement, then RGPV presents itself as an affordable option with decent educational facilities and exposure. But if one aims at bagging a high compensation at the end of their academic career, then RGPV might not be an ideal place to choose. Among Madhya Pradesh, the college surely is one of the best, offering sound technical courses.
