The Regional Institute of Education Mysuru ( Formerly Regional College of Education ) founded on 1st August, 1963, is one of five such institutions established by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi. The other Institutes are located at Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar and Shillong. The Regional Institutes were started with main the objective of qualitative improvement of school education through innovative pre-service and in-service teacher training programmes and relevant research, development and extension activities. RIE Mysore admission is done on the basis of merit only.

The Regional Institute of Education, Mysuru has established itself as an institute of repute in the area of school and teacher Education. The institute has endeavored to shoulder the responsibilities and challenges generated by changes in the educational scenario of the country and the southern region. The Institute has been functioning as Regional Institute of Education since 1995, following a major shift in its focus from pre-service Education to in-service Education. The pre-service teacher Education programmes of the institute are affiliated to the University of Mysuru and cater to the needs of south Indian states namely Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Union Territories of Pondicherry and Lakshadweep. A Demonstration Multipurpose School (DMS) is attached to each RIE at Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar and Mysuru as a laboratory for trying out innovative practices in school Education and teacher Education. These are also used for practical training for the trainees of the institutes.

Library:

RIE, Bhubaneswar has the central library housed with more than 69,000 books, 1000 Bound volumes of Periodicals, Serial publications, 300 Reports, 580 Dissertations, 100 Maps, Atlases and some other non-book materials. the library is subscribed to more than 77 Journals/Periodicals. Every year an average of 550 new books were being added to the college library. The library has its set of rules and regulations to be followed.

The library offers an Open Access System and Online Public Access Catalogue [OPAC] is also available. The college library is being computerized and automation of all its operations. On the Public Access Catalogue of the library has a database of books, periodicals and others. RIE College library offers services like Reprographic, CAS, SDI, Documentation and Circulation services.

Computer Application Center:

RIE, Bhubaneswar provides Computer Application Center [CAC] that can be accessed by students, faculties and employees. CAC includes two laboratories with server room and storeroom along with the Head & In-charge's chamber. CAC contains hundreds of PCs and laptops with essential software and internet with Wi-Fi facility.CAC has its set of rules and regulations to be followed. The center provides services like Open Access System, Internet facility, Computer assistance, Printing & scanning, and Information to the users.

CPWD Electrical:

The Central Public Works Department(CPWD) of RIE, institution and is the principal agency of the Government of India responsible for creating assets and providing comprehensive services including planning, designing, construction and maintenance of office and residential buildings as well as other infrastructures of RIE. CPWD maintains the latest technological trends and green buildings.

RIE Placements:

Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar has a campus-placement cell that assists various schools and agencies in the conduct of campus interviews/tests to select teachers for their respective schools. Regional Institute of Education Placement Cell made many students get placed accordingly in the reputed Public schools of the Country.

RIE Mysore Scholarships:

Students who belong to the SC/ST Category are given special facilities and scholarships. These students should not be getting benifits from any other source as well. RIE Scholarship for SC/ST Students include fee waiver of :

• Rs.800/- per month for BSc.Ed, BA.Ed and MSc.Ed (I to VIII semesters).
• Rs.1200/- per month for MSc.Ed. (IX to XII semesters) and MEd.

RIE has the Alumni Association. The members of the Alumni association actively participate in the events that the college organizes. This association forms a bridge between students and corporates providing them the practical knowledge of the corporates that they work for. RIE witnessed the alumni from reputed companies. The passed out students can become members of the association by submitting the required application form in the college office.

The applicants are required to check the college official website for the admission procedure in the Regional Institute of Education. The candidate must go through the application portal carefully and check the requirements including eligibility criteria, fee structure, and other requirements. RIE provides a unique student login ID for every student who registers through the website. The college receives application only through online. 

RIE, Bhubaneswar conducts the councilling for eligible students who have met the eligibility criteria. The college has a special faculty to look after the admission section. RIE includes a State Bank Of India [SBI] inside the campus area to facilitate students for the payment. RIE conducts an entrance exam for the students seeking admission in MPhil in education. The admission is based on the marks secured in the qualifying examination & entrance test.   

Regional Instiyute of Education, Mysore Hostel Details:

1. RIE Mysore facilities include a hostel for all the students. All the hostels are well furnished and are equipped with a dining hall accommodating more than 200 people (in Ganga hostel) and more than 75 (in other hostels) for mess.
2. Dining halls are equipped with metal tables and chairs with all the modern kitchen appliances in the kitchen.
3. All the hostels have 24 hours RO water supply for drinking purpose and 24 hours tap water is available for domestic purposes. All the hostels have 24 hours Wi-Fi connectivity for academic purpose to all the students.
4. Uninterrupted power supply is made available 24 hours and each hostel has a TV room with a dish connected LED TV.
5. There is a computer room in each hostel with about 10 computers with internet facility for academic purpose. All hostels have supply of 2 English daily newspapers.
6. Separate mess facilities are made available for boys and girls with good nutritious food at reasonable rates. 24 hours security is available at each hostel.
7. At girls hostels in-house matrons are there to take care of students during night time.
