Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts, New Delhi was formerly known as The Indian National Theatre which was started in 1950. It is an independent society to promote art and culture. Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts, New Delhi imparts courses in theatre and acting. It is an independent cultural society committed to promoting arts & culture as well as nurture talents in the field of performing arts.
SRCPA also have a repertory (resident theatre company) and stage various plays, by eminent playwrights & directors. Every year they produce one or two new plays for the theatre enthusiast. They provide workshops that cater to the need of every age group like a two-year acting program for experienced actors, weekend programs for working professionals, summer workshops for school children, weekday workshops who want to pursue their hobby and theatre director’s training program for budding directors. Students get an opportunity to perform in a stage production as part of their program.

Theatre Acting Course [Part Time/ Full Time] :
- 1-year intensive oriented program
- Full-time One Year Acting Course
- Timings – 10 am to 5 pm
- Days – Monday to Friday
Theatre Directors Training Program:
- For experienced theatre professionals and enthusiasts such as emerging directors, senior actors, playwrights and even theatre lovers who wish to gain a foundation and knowledge about stage direction.
- Duration: 6 months (July-Dec)
- Starting Date: 1st week of July
- Timings: Monday to Friday; 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
Theatre Program for children:
- Summer Workshops are immensely popular within the children.
- Storytelling – The workshop will encourage children to explore their unique expressiveness and can heighten one’s ability to communicate thoughts and feelings in an articulate, lucid manner.
- Theatre Workshop (play in Hindi / English) – A language-rich, acting skills workshop that culminates with a play performance.
Senior Teens Theatre Workshop is also conducted.
Two-month Workshop:
The Workshop will cover the following topics:
- Understanding the actor’s physical and emotional apparatus through yoga, body movements and theatre games.
- Voice development, diction, speech clarity and breathing.
- Dialogue delivery and structuring.
- Expressing emotions and feelings, exhibiting character personalities.
- Exercises in a dramatic reading.
- Body movements and gait for the stage
- Stage presence, importance and meanings of entry-exits, angles and stage positions
- Understand elements of stagecraft such as costumes, makeup, sets etc.
- Review of classic plays
- Study of great actors.
- Developing self-confidence, improving communication skills, exploring opportunities in theatre and in media.
Weekend Theatre Acting Program:
- The workshop will cover the same topics as above but on the weekends
Voice and Speech Training Program:
- Students will learn how to control various aspects of voice and speech like volume, pitch etc.
- The Workshop is beneficial for actors, RJ/VJ, public speakers etc.

- Candidate should have participated in minimum three plays as an actor or experience of stage performance through other fields of performing arts
- Candidate should have done graduation/ qualification in other fields of performing arts is desirable.
- The candidate should have formal training in acting.
- It is desirable for the candidate to have knowledge in dance, music and allied arts.
- Graduation is preferred however 12th Pass with high theatre experience will also be considered.
- Candidate having prior experience in repertory will have an added advantage.
- A basic command over the English language is preferred.
