Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce (SGGSCC), founded in 1984, is the second commerce college under the University of Delhi. Known for its academic excellence, SGGSCC specializes in fields such as commerce, economics, business studies, and computer science. The college places significant emphasis on providing quality education while promoting character development and cultural growth to shape socially responsible citizens.
Located strategically near the T.V. Tower in Pitam Pura, New Delhi, SGGSCC is sponsored by the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee, a statutory body created under an Act of Parliament. The college is named after the tenth Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and is inspired by the moral and spiritual teachings of Sikh Gurus, encouraging students to adopt universally accepted values.
Starting with just 129 students and 6 faculty members in modest "barracks," SGGSCC has evolved into a leading institution with approximately 2200 students and a faculty of 70. The college’s growth has been driven by collective efforts, supported by strong infrastructure and effective policies that ensure an enriching learning environment.
SGGSCC's continuous commitment to excellence has been acknowledged with an "A++" grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The college has also been ranked among the top 100 higher education institutions in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
The college offers modern infrastructure, including spacious classrooms, vast grounds, a well-equipped library, a state-of-the-art auditorium, advanced computer labs, seminar halls, and conference rooms. Accessibility is a priority, with disabled-friendly ramps and an elevator in the teaching block. Beyond academics, SGGSCC focuses on holistic development, providing national-standard sports facilities for cricket, volleyball, basketball, lawn tennis, table tennis, a gymnasium named after Sahibzada Jujhar Singh Ji, and a world-class shooting range. The college also supports student engagement with 35 societies and clubs catering to diverse interests.
The college includes a girls’ hostel, named after Mata Sahib Kaur Ji, offering a safe and quality living space for outstation students. SGGSCC is also committed to environmental sustainability, demonstrated by the installation of hybrid wind and solar panels for electricity generation and initiatives for rainwater harvesting.
