College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities :
The college has just one boys' hostel and no girls' hostels at all. But there are several hostels and PGs nearby. The college canteen serves delicious food for the students at reasonable rates. The college, which previously admitted only boy students, however, now admits both boy and girl students, but only in the postgraduate and research levels. At the undergraduate level, only five self-financing departments,(B-Voc Agriculture, Food Processing, BCom, BCA and BA-English Literature and Communication Studies) are mixed. The old style infrastructure and eco-friendly campus ate the main attractions of the college. It is a strictly ragging-banned college. There's also a women's cell for the girl students. The indoor stadium and the swimming pool provides more opportunities to the students. The college library contains books, journals, and magazines or different languages and genres, opening up a whole new world of possibilities to the students.
Entrance Exams & Admissions :
St Thomas College, Pala, Kottayam, affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University and established in 1950, is one of the oldest and most reputed colleges in Kerala. With more than 20 departments in the undergraduate, postgraduate and research levels, it has provided quality education over the decades. The admission process is based on merit. All you have got to do is register to the MG University website (https://www.mgu.ac.in) and add the colleges you're interested to attend. There are four allotments and if you're lucky enough, you'll get in. Once you're name is on the list, go to the college yourself and take admission. There are no other tests or admission procedures of any sort. Cut off for my course is around 60%
Placements & Internships :
The college itself doesn't provide any internship opportunities. There's a campus recruitment cell in the college that helps students with job placements.
Fees & Scholarships :
The fee structure of the self-financing departments are in the range Rs.12,000-Rs.20,000 per semester. The college also provides many scholarship opportunities for the students. There are global student exchange programmes as well.
Academics & Faculty :
The classes begin at 9.45 AM and end at 3.45 pm. Saturdays are normally off. Teaching is very good. There are many well-experienced teachers in various departments.
Clubs & Associations :
There are various clubs including the dance club, music club, anti-narcotic club etc. Different departments host fests over the year. The cultural fest is mediocre.
