UIET M.Tech/ M.E Selection Process 2024

Admission will be based on the merit rankings of the GATE exam. There is no separate counselling for M.Tech/ ME. Candidates who have appeared for the PU CET exam will be selected on the merit ranking of the exam for the vacant seats. There are no other means of selection. Candidates will either be selected through GATE or PU CET.

UIET Ph.D Admission 2024

Students applying for the Ph.D program shall have to appear for an entrance test that will be conducted by Panjab University. An internal entrance exam is conducted by the faculty of UIET for Ph.D. Subsequently, after the entrance test, students if eligible shall be required to sit for a personal interview. Selection will be based on the total marks of the interview & the entrance test. 

UIET Ph.D Eligibility Criteria 2024

University of Engineering & Technology Chandigarh Ph.D eligibility criteria for admission 2024 is common for all the specializations. UIET Ph.D Selection Process 2024

Admission is based on an entrance test that will be conducted by Panjab University. 50% of marks or more is required in the entrance test to gain eligibility for the interview. The final selection will be based on the interview conducted by Panjab University. A minimum of 35% marks or more are required in Paper I (Ph.D Entrance Test) for SC/ ST/ BC/ PwD categories to gain for Paper II to be evaluated.

UIET Admission Process 2024

Students applying for the undergraduate & postgraduate course of B.E/ B.Tech, M.E/ M.Tech shall have to take All India Common Entrance Tests like JEE Mains & GATE respectively. There is no other way of taking admission into these programs as the selection of candidates will be based on the merit ranking of these entrance tests. Although for the course of M.Tech, after the selection of students through the GATE exam, the selection will be based on the merit ranking of PU CET (PG) exam & finally if there are any vacant seats, the selection will be carried out through the aggregate marks of B.E/ B.Tech. Keep checking the JAC counselling official website for updates regarding vacant seats in different rounds. JAC will not issue any personal invite in the form of an email or text message to any student. Since the exam dates for PU CET (PG) is cancelled, admission for the vacant seats of the M.Tech program is based on the aggregate marks of B.Tech/ B.E.

UIET Chandigarh has released information about the seat intake of the upcoming session. There are 693 seats available for B.Tech/ B.E, 197 for M.Tech and 121 for Ph.D. Seats are categorically divided into courses & respective streams in the table below. Make sure to visit the official website to know if there are any updates regarding the seat matrix.

Steps To Apply for UIET Admission 2024

The steps to apply for B.Tech/ B.E, Ph.D and M.Tech/ M.E courses are different. However, candidates are expected to check out the official site to apply for UIET admission process 2024. A stepwise process for the same is listed below for all the available courses.

For B.Tech/ B.E and Ph.D

• Step 1- Check the official website of UIET Chandigarh and hover the cursor on the admissions tab.
• Step 2- Apply for the B.Tech program by choosing from the available advertisements & register your account for the application. Similarly, choose PhD to apply for PhD admission 2024.
• Step 3- Upload the required documents in the online portal.
• Step 4- Complete the registration form after payment of registration fees through the same online portal.
• Step 5- Joint Admission Committee will be conducting four rounds of counselling, appear in the counselling rounds.
• Step 6- Final selection will be done according to the JAC counselling rounds.

For M.Tech

• Step 1- Check the online admissions website of Panjab University Chandigarh.
• Step 2- Click on online registration and create a registration account.
• Step 3- Use the credentials of the created account to log in.
• Step 4- Once logged in, click “Add application form”.
• Step 5- Then click on edit and fill in the required details correctly.
• Step 6- Select M.Tech in the courses field and click apply.
• Step 7- Upload the relevant documents and testimonials with a passport size photograph & signature (PDF format).
• Step 8- Recheck all the entered details & then click on confirm.
• Step 9- Complete the application process after payment of the application fee either online (Directly on the interface) or offline (Through bank challan).
• Step 10- Take a physical printout of the final application form for future reference.

UIET Counselling 2024

Students who are applying for the B.Tech/ B.E course have to appear in counselling rounds for selection which will be conducted by the JAC. The counselling will be concluded in three rounds and then a final SPOT round. Selection of candidates for the B.Tech/B.E course will be done in these counselling rounds. The registration process for the SPOT round is only for students who have not registered earlier. Students shall have to pay through the means of a Bank Challan which is to be deposited in a branch of SBI Bank (Offline payment).

The Admission Process of JAC counselling

Students who have appeared for the JEE Mains exam can apply for the JAC counselling. The selection is based on merit & will be decided on the JEE Mains ranking of a student.

• Eligible and interested students can check the official webpage of Chandigarh Engineering & Architecture Counselling for relevant details.
• Apply for a new registration form through the online portal and fill up the required details.
• Complete the registration form after payment of the registration fees through the online portal.
• After the registration form is completed, unique credentials will be generated and sent to the registered students through email & text.
• Students are then required to fill up their choices of desired institute & branch through the online portal and lock in their final choice.
• Once the final choice is locked, students will not be able to re-edit them.
• If the choices are selected but students have not locked them, the last saved choices in the system will be considered.
• The online portal will then generate a temporary list of colleges & streams based on the JEE Mains rankings of a student.
• This list is provided to give an idea to the applicants about the colleges/ streams they might get. It is a temporary list & the final allotment of seats may differ.
• After the mock counselling is over, JAC will initiate round 1 of the three counselling rounds.
• In each round after seat allotment, students will have two options. Once a seat has been allotted, students are required to complete the payment of admission fees either online or through bank challan. The two options are mentioned below;
• Yes, Upgradation - Students choosing this option can appear for the later rounds. Their earlier allotted seats will get upgraded according to the vacancy of seats. They can change their desired seats as well. Seats allotted in the first wound will be retained.
• No Upgradation - Students choosing this option can appear for the later rounds as well. Their earlier allotted seats will remain intact but they will not have an option to change their desired seat.
• In every round cand, if a student is allotted their desired stream & institute, they can withdraw from the counselling rounds and can take admission into the respective institute.
• Students who are not allotted any seat in the first round are eligible for the later rounds as well. They will have an option to modify there earlier locked in choices.
• Students who are allotted a seat in the first round and did not deposit the admission fee can no longer participate for the rest of the rounds.
