Yashwantrao Chavan Institute of Science, Satara is run by the Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, Satara, one of the prestigious 'Sanstha', leader in mass education. It was founded by late Padmabhushan Dr. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil.

YC College, Satara was established in 1965. YC College, Satara is a Prime Institute known for excellency amongst all the colleges affiliated to Shivaji University Kolhapur. It has been rendering educational as well as social responsibilities ardently since its establishment and working for the all-round development of students. Since its establishment, the institute has been flourishing in its strength and standard. It has been working as a 'Lead college' of the Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
