Yuvaraja’s College, Mysore was established in 1928. It is one of the oldest colleges in the state of Karnataka and the only constituent science college of the University of Mysore. The college is an autonomous college of the University of Mysore and accredited by NAAC. The college is also recognized as a center for the potential for excellence by UGC. The University Grants Commission conferred Autonomous Status to the college in the year 2005 and it was extended up to 2020 in the year 2012. Over the years the college has endeavored to achieve and maintain academic excellence through research, teaching, and extension activities.
In recognition of its student-cum-community- centered innovative academic and extension programmes, the institution has conferred the status of College with Potential for Excellence in 2010. Quality enhancement and sustenance being the hallmark of this institution is further proved during the third cycle of re-accreditation by NAAC in December 2015 at ‘A’ Grade with an upgraded CGPA of 3.34. In the year 2028 Yuvaraja’s College steps into the 100th year of its existence and service to the nation.
The University Grants Commission conferred Autonomous Status to the college in the year 2005 and it was extended up to 2020 in the year 2012. Yuvaraja’s College admission offers several undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including one 5 year integrated M.Sc course. Currently, it offers various academic programmes leading to B.Sc, BCA, BBA, Integrated M.Sc, M.Sc, MA, MBA, and Ph.D. degrees. The University conducts examinations for all Degree Courses. The final assessment of the knowledge, comprehension, and acumen of the students is made on the basis of written answers. However, periodical assessments are made at the college level by conducting tests. The examination will be held at the end of each semester.
Bachelor's Degree in science is a three-year course. The maximum number of years to complete the course is double the duration i.e 6 years In case a student cannot complete his course in six years, he/ she shall have to seek readmission to the first year with the permission of the university.
