IISER Reservation 2025: Category-Wise (Gen, OBC, SC, ST)

IISER Reservation 2025 criteria are followed by the IISER official body based on the policies released by the Govt. of India. IISER 2025 reservation provides special consideration for students based on their category and region. The reservation of IISER 2025 is mainly seat allocation for candidates where there are specific percentages of seats reserved for each category.

Along with the seat allocation, IISER 2025 reservation criteria are implemented in other factors such as relaxation in the minimum marks requirement and overall time compensation for the entrance exam. As per the IISER reservation criteria, 2025 15% of seats are reserved for SC category candidates, 7.5% of seats are reserved for ST category candidates, whereas 27% of seats are reserved for OBC candidates. Whereas 3% of seats are reserved for Kashmiri Migrants and 10% of seats are reserved for EWS candidates.

IISER 2025 Reservation Criteria: Category-Wise

The conducting body has prescribed specific IISER reservation 2025 policies according to the government rules to ensure that there are opportunities for candidates from underrepresented categories and regions.

The IISER 2025 reservations listed by the official authority for seat allocation is as follows.

Non-Creamy Layer of Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) 27%

Economically Weaker Section (EWS) 10%

Candidates must note that based on OBC-NCL/EWS reservation in IISER 2025, they must submit the required certificate that is valid for the financial year 2024-25.

IISER Reservation Criteria 2025 in Qualifying Marks

While all the eligibility requirements to appear for the exam are the same for all students, IISER reservation 2025 for certain categories is implemented in terms of the minimum qualifying marks. As per the PWD/SC/ST reservation in IISER 2025, the candidates should have a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade in their class 12/ equivalent examination.

Additionally, candidates from Winter Zone areas of Jammu division, Kashmir division, Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE), and the U.T of Ladakh are eligible for IISER 2024 reservation even if they appeared for class 12/ equivalent examination in Dec 2021. However, they must satisfy all the IISER Eligibility Criteria 2025 to apply for the exam.

IISER Reservation 2025 for PWD Category

Candidates who belong to PWD category with at least 40% impairment are eligible to request for one hour compensatory time based on IISER reservation 2025. Candidates who have difficulty in writing and are not covered under the definition of RPwD Act 2016 Section 2(r) are also eligible for one hour compensatory time provided they submit the 'Disability and Difficulty in Writing Certificate' duly issued by the competent authority.

Furthermore, according to reservation in IISER 2025, PWD candidates who have the following disabilities can also avail the services of a scribe (amanuensis) to operate the computer system. They can opt for the scribe services at the time of application by producing the required documents.

  • Visual Impairment
  • Dyslexia
  • Disability in Upper Limbs
  • Lost Fingers/ Hands.

IISER 2025 Reservation for OCI/PIO Candidates

Candidates who are OCI/PIO card holders are eligible to apply for the entrance examination. However, they will not be eligible to avail of the IISER reservation 2025 as they will be considered for the unreserved seats.

Non-Indian citizens who are not OCI/PIO card holders will be considered as foreign nationals and such students must contact the Chairperson of Joint Admissions Committee to apply for IISER 2025.
