Punjab Scholarships

The Punjab scholarships, run by the Punjab government, offer monetary benefits to the natives of the state. Pre-Matric Punjab Scholarships 

The state government offers pre-matric Punjab scholarships for students belonging to the SC, OBC and minority categories. They are available to students from class I to X. However, the class levels may vary based on the reserved categories. 

Eligibility Criteria for Pre-Matric Punjab Scholarships 

The students who are domiciled or residents of Punjab and are studying in government/ government-aided schools can apply to the pre-matric Punjab scholarships. Tabulated below are the eligibility criteria for the SC, OBC and minority categories:

Pre-Matric Scholarship for SC	The candidates should belong to the SC category. They should either be in class IX or X. The annual income of the family should not exceed INR 2,00,000. Students receiving any other scholarships funded by the central government cannot apply to the pre-matric Punjab scholarships.
Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC	Students should be from the OBC category. They should be between classes I to X. The family income should not exceed INR 44,500 per annum.
Pre-Matric Scholarship for Minorities	Minority students who are Sikhs, Parsis, Jains, Christians, Buddhists and Muslims can apply to this Punjab scholarship scheme. The family income should not be more than INR 1,00,000 per annum from all the sources. Students from class 1 to class X can apply. They should have obtained at least 50% marks in their previous exam.

Benefits of Pre-Matric Punjab Scholarships 

The government offers monetary aid to students studying in schools. It aims to motivate young children to pursue higher education and thereby reduce the number of dropouts. Tabulated below are the benefits of pre-matric Punjab scholarships for the SC, OBC and minority students:

Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students	Students from class I to X will receive the following benefits: Class I to V - INR 25 per month Class VI to VIII - INR 40 per month Classes IX and X - INR 50 per month Ad hoc grant - INR 500 per annum
Pre-Matric Scholarship for Minorities	The day scholars and hostellers will receive the following maintenance allowance every month: Day scholars in class I to X - INR 100 Hostellers in class VI to X - INR 600 Students in classes VI to X will receive an INR 500 per annum admission fee or the actual cost. Students between classes VI to X will receive a tuition fee of INR 350 per month or the actual fee.

Post-Matric Punjab Scholarships 

The natives of Punjab belonging to the SC, OBC and minority categories can avail post-matric Punjab scholarships. Candidates from class XI to the postdoctoral level can apply to these Punjab scholarship schemes. However, the students should study in an institution recognised by the Indian government. 

Eligibility Criteria for Post-Matric Punjab Scholarships

Post-Matric Punjab Scholarship for OBC Students	OBC category students studying from class XI and above are eligible. The income of the employed candidates and their families should not exceed INR 1,00,000 per annum.
Post-Matric Scholarship for Minorities	Minority category students belonging to Sikhs, Parsis, Buddhists, Jains, Muslims, Christians and Jains can apply to this post-matric Punjab scholarship. Minorities between class XI and postdoctoral levels are eligible to apply. The family income should not exceed INR 2,00,000 per annum from all sources.

Benefits of Post-Matric Punjab Scholarships 

The post-matric Punjab scholarships offer financial aid to support candidate's maintenance allowance, non-refundable fee, thesis, study tour, book and printing charges. The details of the post-matric Punjab scholarships benefits are as follows:

Post-Matric Scholarship for SC Students	The SC category students pursuing the post-matric studies will receive the following maintenance allowance every month: Hostellers - INR 1,200 Day scholars - INR 550 The government will refund the non-fundable fees of the selected candidates. Additionally, they will offer up to INR 1,600 per annum towards the study tour. The research scholars will receive INR 1,600 per annum. Students studying through correspondence will receive up to INR 1,200 per annum.
Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students	The government grants the following maintenance allowances to the OBC students: Hostellers - INR 750 Day-scholars - INR 350 Visually impaired students will receive INR 175 per month as readers charges. Research students will receive up to INR 1,000 towards thesis typing. The government will grant INR 900 per annum for the study tour.
Post-Matric Scholarship for Minorities	The government will offer admission and tuition fees of up to INR 7,000 per annum to students between XI and XII classes. The government will grant INR 10,000 per annum towards admission and tuition fees for students pursuing technical and vocational courses. Those pursuing UG or PG will receive up to INR 3,000 per annum towards admission and tuition fee. The maintenance allowance are as follows:  Class XI and XII Hostellers - INR 380 per month Day scholars - INR 230 per month  UG and PG Level Hostellers - INR 570 per month Day scholars - INR 300 per month

Merit-cum-Means Punjab Scholarship for Minorities 

Minorities in Punjab who pursue bachelor's/ masters in professional or technical courses can apply to the merit-cum-means Punjab scholarship. The minority community in Punjab includes Sikhs, Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, Parsis, Buddhists and Jains. Interested candidates can apply through the official National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

The candidates should be pursuing a course in nursing, pharmaceutical, management, technical, professional, etc. The family income, including the beneficiary's, parents or guardians', should not exceed INR 2,50,000 from all sources. They should have obtained at least 50% or equivalent in the last qualifying exam. The students should not avail any other scholarships while applying for this Punjab scholarship scheme. The candidates applying for this Punjab scholarship renewal process should have secured at least 50% marks in the previous qualifying exam.

Benefits of Merit-cum-Means Punjab Scholarship for Minorities 

The selected students for the merit-cum-means Punjab scholarship will receive the following benefits:

Chief Minister Punjab Scholarship 

The state government launched the chief minister Punjab scholarship in 2017-18. Punjab residents pursuing diploma courses in government institutions can apply to the chief minister Punjab scholarship 2023. In this scheme, the government will waive the tuition fee of the selected students based on their marks. 

Chief Minister Punjab Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Attendance Scheme for Primary Girl Students 

The state government of Punjab has launched the attendance scheme for primary girl students belonging to the backward classes, economically weaker sections and Scheduled Caste (SC) categories. The government executed this Punjab scholarship scheme to motivate young girls and prevent them from dropping out of school due to their financial conditions. 

There are two attendance schemes for primary girl students under the Punjab scholarships. One scholarship scheme supports the girls in the BC/ EBC category, and the other scheme helps students belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category. Below are the details of the attendance scholarship schemes for girls in primary schools under the Punjab scholarship 2023. 

Attendance Scheme for Primary Girl Students in BC/ EBC Category 

The eligibility criteria for the attendance scheme for primary girl students in backward classes and economically weaker sections are as follows:

Attendance Scheme for Primary Girl Students in Scheduled Caste (SC) Category

As per this Punjab scholarship scheme, each female student belonging to the BC/ EBC and SC categories will receive INR 50 per month for ten months in a year.

How to Apply on E-Punjab Scholarship Portal? 

The candidates can apply to the attendance scholarship schemes for primary girls, pre-matric scholarships for SC, OBC and minority categories through the E-Punjab scholarship portal. The school incharge will apply for the scholarships on behalf of the students. The stepwise procedure to apply for the E-Punjab scholarship are as follows: 

Step 1: The school-incharge should visit the official E-Punjab scholarship portal.

Step 2: They should click on the school office login button under the login tab. 

 

 

Step 3: Next, they should log in by providing the school/office's username, password and click on the login button. 

Step 4:  After logging in, the officials should click on opt scholarship under the student tab.

Step 5: They should fill up the details and click on the show button.

Step 6: Now, the officials can view the list of applicants and their details.

Step 7: Next, they should click on the opt button against the selected student's name.

Step 8: The system will direct the officials to an application page with the student's basic details.

Step 9: They should select the scholarship type from the dropdown menu and fill in the other details.

Step 10: After making the changes, the school incharge should click on the submit button.

How to Apply on Dr Ambedkar Punjab Scholarship Portal? 

Eligible students applying for the post-matric scholarships for SC and OBC categories should visit the official Dr Ambedkar Punjab scholarship portal. Besides the application, the candidates can also visit the portal to receive the latest Punjab scholarship notifications. The stepwise process to apply for these scholarships are as follows: 

Step 1: The candidates should visit the official Dr Ambedkar Punjab scholarship portal.

Step 2: Every candidate, both fresh and renewal applicants, should register by clicking on the student registration button available under the student corner section.

Step 3:The applicants will receive the Punjab scholarship login credentials consisting of a username and password after completing the Punjab scholarship new registration process.
