Questions of JEE Main 2017 were considered to be of moderate difficulty. The questions were evenly distributed among the three subjects. The 2017 question paper JEE Main difficulty level varied from easy to moderately difficult.
Physics:
The JEE Main 2017 question paper of the physics section was considered to be moderately difficult.
- Ten questions were from the class 11 syllabus, and 20 were from class 12.
- Current electricity, modern physics, capacitance, calorimetry and thermal expansion, thermodynamics and KTG, work, power, and energy had the most questions of JEE Main 2017.
- Sound waves, wave optics, electromagnetic field, electrostatic, electromagnetic induction, gravitation, elasticity and viscosity, rectilinear motion and vectors, surface tension, semiconductors, nuclear physics, geometrical and physical optics, and the principle of communication.
- Candidates claimed that the JEE Main physics question paper 2017 was lengthy and time-consuming.
Chemistry:
The 2017 JEE Main chemistry question paper was moderate to easy, as expressed by the candidates.
- The JEE Main online 2017 question paper questions were based on concepts and formulae.
- JEE Main 2017 question paper for chemistry with high weightage was from an alkyl halide, alcohol and ether, s block elements, thermodynamics and thermochemistry, chemical bonding, and mole concept.
- Other questions were from the periodic table & periodicity in properties, coordinate compounds, organic chemistry, biomolecule, Carbonyl Compounds, electrochemistry, solid state, surface chemistry, and chemical chemistry.
Mathematics:
The IIT JEE Main 2017 question paper of the mathematics section was also considered to be moderately difficult.
- JEE Main 2017 determinant question had high weightage along with statistics and quadratic equations, matrix, functions, 3D geometry, and application of derivatives.
- Apart from that, some questions were also from binomial theorem, complex numbers, ellipses, straight line, hyperbola, tangents and normals, methods of differentiation, definite integration, the area under curve, permutation and combination, trigonometric equation, and trigonometric ratios, equations.
