The JEE Main Marks vs Rank vs Percentile 2025 calculations help students learn about their JEE Main rank in the most confined manner. The rank position in the JEE Main merit list is provided based on this analysis of marks, rank and percentile of the students.

The Nationa Testing Agency (NTA) implements procedures to acquire a straightforward Normalisation Process based on percentile scores in the JEE Main exam, especially for calculating NTA scores regarding multisession papers. However, with the revision of the JEE Main exam pattern 2025 by removing the option to choose questions in section B of the paper, the JEE Main qualifying marks are likely to see a dip.

This, in turn, can impact the overall ranks and percentiles of candidates. Thus, analyzing the JEE mains marks vs rank vs percentile 2025 can help students determine the percentile for the marks obtained. Moreover, they can also anticipate their colleges and courses.

JEE Mains Marks vs Percentile vs Rank 2025 (Expected)

NTA employs a normalization procedure to derive the JEE Main rank. Candidates can expect a dip in their JEE Main ranks for the year 2025 due to the introduction of a new JEE Main exam pattern 2025.

JEE Main Normalisation Procedure 2025

The Normalisation Procedure comes into the picture after the JEE Main Percentile score is obtained by participants. It brings about the exercise of fair candidate scores taken across the multi-session papers, also the same as those acquired in educational examinations selected and conducted in India. Here's how the JEE Main normalisation process works:

  • The JEE main percentile score indicates the percentage of candidates scoring equal to or below the target given percentile, which is determined after the normalisation process with the marks excelled by candidates. Next, compiling the raw marks, the NTA utilises the percentile equivalence for the normalisation process (formula) across subjects - Physics, Chemistry, and Maths (PCM) as well as total.
  • Notably, the highest/top score from each session will carry the same ideal percentile of 100. Those marks obtained between the highest and lowest scores are converted to proper percentiles. The percentile score will be used to create the JEE Main merit list.
  • The “normalisation procedure based on percentile score” was initiated to ensure the candidate percentile based on the difficulty attempt level of question sets, as the candidates may witness either tough/easier examination based on it, where neither benefited nor disadvantaged due to exam difficulty level.

The formula for Percentile Score is as follows:

100 x Number of candidates appeared in the “session” with raw score EQUAL TO OR LESS than the candidate

Note: The Percentile of the total shall NOT be an aggregate or average of the Percentile of the individual subject. Percentile Score is not similar to the Percentage of Marks achieved.
