JEE Main Ranking System Inter SE Merit System
There are times when there is a tie in the ranks between 2 or more candidates. In that case, the following factors will be considered to ascertain the final rank of the concerned candidates:
- Firstly, the NTA score secured by the candidates in the Mathematics subject is considered in breaking the ties.
- If a tie still exists then the NTA scores secured by candidates in Physics subject will be considered.
- Still, there is a tie, then Chemistry subject marks are taken into consideration.
- Next, the candidate's age will be taken into consideration to break the tie if it continues.
- Lastly, if there is still a tie then the same rank will be awarded to the concerned candidates.
Procedure for Computing JEE Main Rank List for Paper 1
Here are the steps involved in computing JEE Main rank list:
- Once the raw scores obtained by candidates in the JEE Main exam have been normalised, the authorities will declare the NTA scores.
- Next, separate subject-wise scores will be released by NTA in addition to the overall result.
- The best of two marks will be used to compile the ranking list.
- However, if a candidate has only attempted one test, that one will be used to determine their ranking.
Tie-Breaking Criteria for Paper 2 Rank List
The JEE Main Rank List tie-breaking criteria for Paper 2 in order to prepare the results are given below:
- A candidate with a higher score in mathematics will be given priority.
- Next, a candidate with a high aptitude score will be considered.
- However, if a tie still exists, the marks scored in the drawing paper will be evaluated.
- Finally, candidates with a lower negative-to-positive answer ratio are given precedence if a tie still exists.
