NEET domicile criteria 2024 must be fulfilled by the citizens of the respective states and union territories in India for NEET admission to various medical colleges for MBBS or BDS. 85% of the seats fall under the state quota and 15% are reserved for candidates from other parts of the country.
NEET domicile criteria 2024 must be satisfied by the candidates residing or holding domicile in the respective states or union territories in India. 85% of the seats in the medical college are reserved for the state domicile holders and 15% of the seats are reserved for the candidates falling under the All India Quota.
NEET 2024 is scheduled to be held on May 5, 2024. The NEET application process 2024 is ongoing and will end on Mar 16, 2024. The candidates will receive the admit cards 3 to 4 days before the exam date.
The candidates must thoroughly understand the domicile criteria and fulfil the eligibility criteria for admission to the state medical colleges.

NEET Domicile Criteria 2024: State-wise Eligibility
NEET domicile criteria must be fulfilled to be able to appear for the NEET 2024 examination. The state wise NEET domicile criteria 2024 have been provided below:
1. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Arunachal Pradesh
The candidates who fulfil the domicile criteria shall be eligible for the 85% state quota for the admission process in Arunachal Pradesh.
- 80% of the total seats in Arunachal Pradesh is reserved for the Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) category.
- 20% of the seats are reserved for the non-APST category. This includes the children of the state government employees who are non-APST, the children of PSU employees and the children of central government employees.
- This 20% reservation also includes children of other category employees who have not been mentioned above, who have been a resident of Arunachal Pradesh for at least 3 years and have passed the class 12 board examination from any of the schools of Arunachal Pradesh.

2. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Andhra Pradesh
The admission process in the medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh following the NEET results for MBBS or BDS will be for two categories - local area candidates and non-local area candidates. The local area candidates are again divided into subcategories - the Andhra University (AU) area, Osmania University area (OU) and Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) area.
The candidates who belong to the non-local area category can seek admission within the 15% of seats reserved for them, whereas the local area candidates can seek admission in both the 85% seats reserved for the local area candidates as well as the 15% seats reserved for the non-local area candidates.
The local districts under the AU, OU, and SVU have been shared below:
- The local area districts under AU are Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, West Godavari, East Godavari, Krishna, Prakasam and Guntur.
- The local area districts under OU are Hyderabad, Adilabad, Rangareddy, Khammam, Karimnagar, Nalgonda, Mahaboobnagar, Medak, Warangal and Nizamabad.
- The local area districts under SVU are Kadapa, Anantapur, Kurnool, Nellore and Chittoor.
For being considered a local resident of the above mentioned areas, a candidate must fulfill the below mentioned criteria:
- He/she has been living in the state for at least 4 years consecutively immediately before appearing for the qualifying examination.
- He/she has been studying in a college or school in the local area for at least 4 years consecutively immediately before appearing for the qualifying examination.
A candidate who is not a local candidate, but has been living in any of the above mentioned local areas for at least 7 years consecutively including the year in which he/she appears for the NEET examination, will also be considered a local candidate if he/she fulfils the below mentioned criteria:
- He/she has been living in one of the above-mentioned local areas for the larger part of the 7 years’ duration.
- He/she has lived in two local areas for an equal duration of time.
- He/she has not studied in a school or college in the local area, but has lived for at least 7 years in the local area or two local areas for an equal duration.
The categories of candidates who can apply for the unreserved seats which is 15% of the total seats are:
- If he/she has lived in a said local area for a period of 10 years in total excluding the period during which the candidate has studied outside the state, or if his/her one or both of the parents has resided in one of the local areas for a period of 10 years excluding the years of employment outside the state.
- If the parent/parents of the candidate is/are employed with the state government or central government, or with a local body, or in an educational institution, or with a public sector unit, or with a quasi public government-institution within the state.
- If the spouse of the candidate is an employee of the state government or central government, or with a local body, or in an educational institution, or with a public sector unit, or with a quasi public government-institution within the state.

3. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Andaman and Nicobar
To be eligible for the state quota seats in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands for admission to medical colleges for MBBS or BDS, the candidates must be a domicile holder of the Union Territory.

4. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Assam
For admission to the MBBS or BDS courses following the NEET result 2024, the domicile criteria to be fulfilled by the candidate are as follows:
- The candidate or his/her parent/parents must have resided in Assam for at least 20 years in succession.
- The candidate must have completed his/her education from class 7 to class 12 from any of the schools located in Assam.

5. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Bihar
The candidates who fulfil the following NEET domicile criteria 2024 for the state of Bihar, will qualify for the 85% state quota reservation in Bihar NEET admissions:
- The candidate whose parent/parents are residents of Bihar or are settled as refugees in Bihar.
- The candidate whose parent/parents may belong to another state but are employed by the Bihar Government.
- The candidate whose parent/parents have been employed with the Bihar Government before the formation of Jharkhand and whose employment can be transferred to either the Bihar Government or the Jharkhand Government.
- The candidate whose parent/parents are an employee of the State Government or the Central Government or Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), State undertakings, and are residing in Bihar.

6. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Chandigarh
The candidates who fulfil the below-mentioned NEET criteria are eligible for the 85% state reservation/UT reservation in the medical colleges for Chandigarh NEET admission:
- If a candidate has attended school or college recognized by the Chandigarh state government within the Union Territory of Chandigarh as a regular student.
- If a candidate’s parent/parents have been residents of Chandigarh for the past 5 years preceding the NEET application date.
- If a candidate’s parent/parents are employed by the Central government or State Government on deputation to Chandigarh, including those working in autonomous bodies or companies where the Chandigarh state government holds a stake of 20% or more. Such a candidate must have resided in Chandigarh for the past 3 years preceding the NEET application date.
NEET domicile criteria 2024 for SC and PwD categories in UT Chandigarh pool:
- Candidates must meet the general eligibility criteria.
- Submission of relevant SC or PwD Certificate is required.
NEET domicile criteria 2024 for Foreign Indian candidates:
- The candidate must be of Indian origin (OCI’s, people of Indian origin holding a passport of another country, or individuals who have resided in another country for at least 3 years before admission to Government Medical College in Chandigarh) and meet the general eligibility criteria. Foreign nationals of non-Indian origin are ineligible.
- Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination in relevant subjects.
- Foreign Indian students must obtain "Certificates of Equivalence" for their qualifying examinations from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi, and Punjab University, Chandigarh.
Foreign Indian Students category is subdivided into the following categories:
- Candidates with an ancestral background (parents, grandparents, or self-residing in the UT for at least 5 years since the establishment of Chandigarh) or owning an immovable property in the name of parents or grandparents for at least 5 years.
- Candidates with an ancestral background in states or UTs other than Chandigarh. Such candidates must furnish certificates from competent authorities. Preference is given to the category mentioned above.

7. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Chhattisgarh
The following criteria must be fulfilled by the candidates for admission to the MBBS or BDS course in Chhattisgarh in order to be eligible for the 85% state quota.
- The candidate must be born in Chhattisgarh.
- The candidates must be domiciled in Chhattisgarh.
- The candidate must have completed Class 12 from an educational institution affiliated with the Chhattisgarh Board or any other state-recognized board.
- One or both of the parents of the candidate must be employees of the Central Government or the Government of Chhattisgarh and residing in the state.

8. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Dadra and Nagar Haveli
The following domicile criteria must be fulfilled by the candidates in order to be eligible for NEET admission for MBBS or BDS course in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
Priority 1: Candidates with parents or guardians domiciled in Daman & Diu or Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and who have studied continuously from Class 8th to class 12th in recognized schools of the UT.
Priority 2: Candidates with parents or guardians domiciled in Daman & Diu or Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and who have studied in recognized educational institutions within the country or abroad.
Priority 3: Candidates with parents or guardians employed by the UT Government or Central Government or UT PSUs or Central PSUs and posted in Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli for the past 5 years. They must have studied continuously in any of the recognized schools of Daman and Diu or Dadra & Nagar Haveli from class 10 to class 12.
Priority 4: Other eligible candidates from any state or union territory.

9. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Delhi
To qualify for the 85% state quota seats in Delhi University MBBS admission, a candidate needs to have completed his/her Class 12 education from a school located in Delhi-NCR. These schools should be affiliated with either CBSE, ICSE, or JMI boards.

10. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Gujarat
In order to be eligible for state-quota reservation for Gujarat NEET 2024 admission to MBBS or BDS course, the candidates must meet the following domicile criteria:
- The candidate should be either a citizen of India or an Overseas Citizen of India.
- If a candidate is born in Gujarat or holds the Gujarat domicile is considered eligible, provided that he/she has completed Class 10 and class 12 from any of the five recognized Education boards in Gujarat which include the Gujarat Board, CISCE, CBSE, ISB, and NIOS. The school must be located in Gujarat.
- If a candidate's parent or parents serve in the central government or Gujarat state government posted outside Gujarat, or in the Defense services while holding Gujarat domicile but posted somewhere else, is considered eligible.
- If a candidate is born outside of Gujarat but has completed his/her class 10 and class 12 while residing in the state. Such a candidate must furnish domicile certificates, and his/her parents must be the residents of Gujarat.
- If a candidate is born in Dadra and Nagar Haveli or Daman and Diu union territories, such a candidate is exempted from providing the Gujarat domicile certificate.
- If a candidate has studied in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) till class 8 or up to class 12 in JNVs outside of Gujarat, he/she is also eligible for Gujarat NEET MBBS or BDS admission.

11. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Haryana
For NEET admission to the MBBS or BDS course in the state of Haryana, a candidate must satisfy the domicile criterion. The domicile criterion is that he/she must be a genuine resident of the state of Haryana.
The candidate must have been living in Haryana for at least 10 years in succession and must have completed his/her education from any of the following boards present in the state - HBSE, CBSE, Open Haryana Board or AICSE (American International Certificate of Secondary Education).

12. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Himachal Pradesh
To qualify for the 85% state quota reservation in government medical colleges in Himachal Pradesh for HP NEET admission, candidates must fulfil the following criteria:
Candidates must have parents who are genuine residents of Himachal Pradesh. They should have passed at least two exams (from classes 8 to 12 or equivalent) from recognized schools located in Himachal Pradesh and affiliated with recognized Boards of the country.
Candidates who are genuine residents of Himachal Pradesh and have studied in Navodaya Schools within the state or have passed Class 10 or 12 exams under exchange programs with other Navodaya Schools in the country.
Candidates whose parents are not genuine residents of Himachal Pradesh but are employed by the Central Govt./State Govt. of Himachal Pradesh/Judiciary, provided that:
- The parents have been employed with the government for a minimum period of two years.
- The candidate has completed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized school in Himachal Pradesh.
Candidates whose parents are regular employees of the Himachal Pradesh Govt./Autonomous bodies under the jurisdiction of the Himachal Govt. may be exempted from the schooling criteria if the parents have held posts outside Himachal Pradesh for at least 3 years.
Candidates whose parents are genuine residents of Himachal Pradesh and work outside the state with other state governments. are eligible for the state quota in Himachal only if they are not eligible for the same in any other state where their parents work.
Candidates whose parents are genuine residents of Himachal Pradesh and are serving/ex-servicemen in Defense/Paramilitary forces are unconditionally exempted from the schooling criteria.

13. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Jammu & Kashmir
To fulfil the NEET domicile criteria 2024 for the Jammu & Kashmir MBBS or BDS admission in UT of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, the candidates must fulfil the following NEET domicile criteria:
- The candidate should be a domicile holder of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir or Ladakh.
- Along with this, a candidate must have passed the higher secondary board examination or an equivalent examination from a recognized statutory Board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as subjects. The education must be completed within the union territory.

14. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Jharkhand
To be eligible for the NEET domicile criteria 2024 for MBBS or BDS admission in state of Jharkhand, the candidates must satisfy the following conditions:
- The candidates who are local or permanent residents of the state of Jharkhand are only eligible for the 85% state-reserved seats for NEET admission in the medical colleges of the state. Such candidates must provide certificates of holding permanent residence in the state. The certificates must be issued by competent authorities.
- The domicile holders of Jharkhand who have completed their class 12 board examination from the Jharkhand Board or other equivalent and recognized board are also eligible for admission.

15. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Karnataka
For Karnataka NEET UG admission to the MBBS or BDS course under 85% state quota, a candidate must satisfy any of the criteria mentioned below:
- A candidate must have studied in one or more government schools or government recognized schools in Karnataka for a period of at least 7 years between class 1 to class 12.
- A candidate must have passed class 11 and class 12 from a government or a government recognized school in Karnataka. The parents of the candidate must have studied in Karnataka for a minimum period of 7 years.
- A candidate along with his/her parents must have Kannada, Tulu, or Kodava as the mother tongue. The parents must be domiciled in Karnataka. If the candidate has studied outside Karnataka, he/she must take a Kannada Language Test to prove proficiency in the language.
- If a candidate has Kannada, Tulu, or Kodava, as his/her mother tongue and has studied for a minimum period of 7 years in the disputed Kannada-speaking regions of Maharashtra or Kerala. For such a candidate, Kannada Language Test is required.
- If the children of Defense Personnel who has been serving in Karnataka for at least 1 year during class 11 and class 12 from a government school or a government recognized school in Karnataka.
- The children of such Defense Personnel who have declared Karnataka as their hometown while joining the Defense Services are also eligible.
- The children of such Defense Personnel who have been serving outside Karnataka but hold the permission to stay in Karnataka. In such cases, the qualifying exam from a Karnataka school or college is necessary.
- The children of ex-servicemen who have declared Karnataka to be their hometown at the time of joining the Defense Services. They must hold the proof of domicile.
- The children of such parents employed by the Central government or Karnataka State government, who have been serving in Karnataka for a period of 1 year during class 11 and class 12 from a Karnataka state government school or a government recognized school.
- The children of MPs who are elected from the state of Karnataka. Such candidates must have passed the Class 12 board examination from a recognized school.
- The candidates whose parents are employed in the All India Services of Karnataka cadre or in the Karnataka State Government, and have been serving outside Karnataka during the candidate's study period. such candidates must fulfil the 7 years' staying requirement.
- The candidates whose parents have migrated from the UT of Jammu and Kashmir holding proof.
- The candidates who have studied 10 years in Kannada medium without taking the language test, from any government school or government recognized school.
- The candidates whose parents are employed with the Central Armed Police Force, and have Karnataka as their hometown. They must hold the proof of domicile. It is crucial to have passed class 12 from a recognized school.
- The candidates who have studied in a Karnataka-based school from class 9 to class 12 or 1st and 2nd year PUC. The parents must have studied in Karnataka for a period of 7 years.
- The candidate must have passed the Class 12 board examination from a recognized school outside Karnataka. The parents must be Karnataka domicile holders and they must speak Kannada as their mother tongue or Kova, or Tulu. The candidate must take the Karnataka Language Test.

16. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Kerala
The candidates who are applying for medical colleges in Kerala will fall under three categories: Keralite, Non-Keralite I (NK-I), and Non-Keralite II (NK-II).
I. The Keralite Category: This category includes all the candidates who have Kerala as their birthplace as well as the children of All India Service Officers who are posted in Kerala. Such candidates are eligible for Communal Reservations or Special Reservations or a fee concession to a certain extent.
II. The Non-Keralite Category I (NK-I): This category comprises candidates who satisfy any of the below-mentioned criteria:
- If he/she has studied and appeared for the qualifying examination in Kerala. His/her parents must be employed by the Government of India and posted in Kerala.
- If he/she has studied and appeared for the qualifying examination in Kerala. His/her parents must be employed by the Government of Kerala for at least 2 years.
- If he/she has lived in Kerala for a minimum duration of 5 years during studies.
- If he/she has studied in Kerala from classes 8 to class 12. No special reservation or fee concession is applicable for this category of candidates.
III. The Non-Keralite Category II (NK-II): This category includes candidates who do not fit into the above categories. These candidates are ineligible for seats in the Government medical colleges. However, they can apply for the open quota management seats available in the private medical colleges that fall under Kerala's list of self-financing medical colleges.

17. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Manipur
To be eligible for admission to Manipur NEET admission 2024, the candidates must be permanent residents of the state or domicile holders of Manipur. Such candidates are eligible for the 85% state quota reservation for NEET admission 2024 in Manipur.

18. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Maharashtra
There are five ways for a candidate to meet the domicile criteria for NEET 2024 in Maharashtra:
Maharashtra State Candidature Type A:
- A candidate must have completed class 10 and class 12 from Maharashtra.
- Such candidates must hold a domicile certificate from the Maharashtra government (living here for 10 years) or must hold a birth certificate proving his/her birth in Maharashtra.
Maharashtra State Candidature Type B:
- A candidate must have passed class 10 and class 12 from Maharashtra.
- Either of the parents of the candidate must hold a domicile certificate from the Maharashtra government.
Maharashtra State Candidature Type C:
- A candidate must have passed Class 10 and class 12 from Maharashtra.
- Either of the parents of the candidate must be an employee of the Government of India or must work for a Government of India undertaking firm (in such cases, the parent must be stationed in and reporting to duty in Maharashtra).
Maharashtra State Candidature Type D:
- A candidate must have passed Class 10 and class 12 from Maharashtra.
- Either the parents of the candidate must be an employee of the Government of Maharashtra or must be working in a Government of Maharashtra undertaking firm.
Maharashtra State Candidature Type E:
- A candidate must have passed Class 10 and class 12 from a recognized school located along the Maharashtra-Karnataka border.
- The mother tongue of the candidate must be Marathi, and he/she must hold a domicile certificate or a birth certificate from the Maharashtra-Karnataka border area administration.
- A candidate from across the country, including OCIs, NRIs, and OMCs (Outside Maharashtra Candidates), can look for the Institutional Quota seats in the state of Maharashtra. they must meet the rules and regulations. In such cases, preference is given to the NRI candidates. These seats are filled up by the authorities through CAP.

19. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Madhya Pradesh
The 85% state reservation in MP NEET is only available to applicants who are residents of Madhya Pradesh. However, the category of candidates mentioned below are also eligible for 85% state quota:
- The candidates whose parents had been freedom fighters.
- The candidates who are the dependents of military personnel.
- The candidates whose parent/parents are employed by the Government of India and are living in Madhya Pradesh.

20. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Meghalaya
The candidates must meet any of the following criteria to be eligible for Meghalaya NEET admission for MBBS or BDS course:
- The candidate must be a resident (either permanent or domicile) of one of India's eight North-Eastern states, which includes Sikkim.
- The candidate must have passed the class 11 and class 12 board examination or an equivalent education from a recognised Indian school.
21. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Mizoram
For eligibility for the NEET domicile criteria 2024 for the state quota reservation in NEET Mizoram admission, a candidate must be a citizen of India holding a permanent residence or domicile certificate in Mizoram.

22. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Odisha
The candidates seeking Odisha NEET MBBS or BDS admission 2024 must be permanent residents of Odisha or must be the children of All India Civil Service officials who work in the Odisha cadre.

23. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Punjab
Citizens residing in Punjab are only eligible for the 85% state quota NEET 2024 admission seats in the medical colleges in Punjab for MBBS or BDS course. However, certain exemptions are granted in the below-mentioned cases:
- Such candidates whose one parent or both the parents have worked for the Central Government or the Punjab State Government, or the All India Services and have since died.
- Such candidates who are the children or the dependents of central government employees (who have now died) and who were posted in Punjab for a minimum span of 2 years immediately before the year of passing class 12 board examination but were posted outside of the state of Punjab for some time between this period.
- Such candidates who are born in Punjab and are the children of Defence personnel or Para Military personnel who have now died.
- Such candidates who are the children of Defence personnel living in Punjab.
- Such candidates seeking the NRI or Minority quota can also apply for the state quota of 85%.

24. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Puducherry
To qualify for the 85% state quota reservation in the government medical colleges in Puducherry NEET UG admission 2024, a candidate must be an Indian citizen and meet one of the following criteria:
- The candidate, or one or both of his/her parents or local guardian (in case of orphaned child), must have continually lived in the Union Territory of Puducherry for a minimum span of 5 years immediately before the date of applying for the seat.
- The candidate who has completed his/her SSLC/HSC or other recognized public examination after having gone through schooling for 5 years in succession immediately before the qualifying examination (including the year of the qualifying examination) in a recognized school located in the UT of Puducherry. The candidate must have lived in the UT of Puducherry continuously for a period of 5 years during the period.
- The candidate who is the child of the natives of Puducherry and has declared any place in the UT of Puducherry as his/her hometown and has received certification from the respective Head of Office. In such cases, the candidate must provide a Nativity Certificate in the prescribed format.
- The candidate who is a child of the parent or parents working as Central or State Government employees or Defense Personnel or Central Paramilitary Forces, or employees of the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) owned by the Central Government or the government of Puducherry. The parents of such candidates must have been posted and working in Puducherry UT for a continuous period of at least 3 years immediately before the last date of submission of the application form.

25. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Rajasthan
To be eligible for the 85% state quota seats in Rajasthan NEET 2024 admission, candidates must satisfy either of the following NEET domicile criteria 2024 for Rajasthan:
- The candidate must be a certified citizen of Rajasthan.
- The parent or parents of the candidate must have lived in Rajasthan for a period of 10 years. The candidate must have studied in the state of Rajasthan from class 8 to class 12.
- Such candidates whose parent or parents are working or have retired as employees of the State Government of Rajasthan having a service period of at least 3 years as on the last date of submission of the online registration form for admission.
- When the candidate is a child of working or retired Defense personnel or Paramilitary personnel, who have their birthplace in Rajasthan but are posted anywhere in India.
- When the candidate is a child of a permanently working Defense Personnel who is posted in Rajasthan on the last date of submission of the online registration form for admission.
- When the candidate is a child of the Judge of the Rajasthan High Court. However, the candidate must not avail a similar benefit in any other state of the country.

26. NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 for Tamil Nadu
To be eligible for the state quota reservation in Tamil Nadu MBBS or BDS NEET 2024 admission:
- Candidates must be bona fide residents of the state.
- Those who have completed schooling from class 6 to class 12 in Tamil Nadu must provide a Nativity Certificate. A permanent Residency Certificate will not suffice. They must submit their parents' Ration Card, Birth Certificate, SSLC/10/12 Certificate, or No Graduate Certificate if the parents are illiterate.
- Students domiciled in the state of Tamil Nadu but studied partially or fully outside the state must submit the copies of their parents' documents mentioned above.
- Candidates must declare that they have not applied as natives of any other state apart from Tamil Nadu.
- The NRI and PIO candidates must apply under the management quota if they meet the rules and regulations laid down by the government of India or the state government of Tamil Nadu.
- Candidates from other states residing in Tamil Nadu or studying from class 6 to class 12 in Tamil Nadu are considered to be under the open category and not the state quota.
