Library

The library is the main learning resource center and provides services facilities to meet the requirements to study, teaching, training, research and consultancy programmes. It is the ocean of knowledge and acts as a backbone of nurturing minds and the institution has the most rich resource center of creativity. The library offer access to a wide range of both printed and electronic sources of information particularly the current affairs related to global economy and technological inventions to the students as well as the faculty members. It is the nerve center of all the intellectual and academic activities of the institute. The institute has a well-stocked Library with latest books, periodicals, journals covering all aspects of Pharmaceutical Technology and resourced with a wide collection of volumes on each subjects. The Research Section is rich and provides access to wide range of database used in project works and assignments. The library collection is constantly revised and upgraded with latest editions and new inclusions. Students can also avail reprographic services from the library.

The library is computerized and has ergonomically designed seating arrangements, which provides the students with perfect ambience of learning. Easy access to the internet in the library helps the students doing in-depth study. The setting up of a digital library is also in process which will enable the students to have access to the ocean of knowledge and developments.

Laboratory

The laboratory is the heart and soul of any pharmaceutical institute. Much emphasize has therefore been given to build up most modern laboratories for the use of students. All laboratories are well ventilated, spacious, and equipped with gas, water, electricity and high quality chemicals, instruments and equipment. The college has all the labs required to take care of practical classes as stipulated in the syllabus of WBUT and they are as per AICTE & PCI norms.

Central Instrumentation Facility

The Central Instrumentation Facility of the Institution houses the sophisticated and high-valued equipment under air-conditioned setup. The different instruments available at the CIF are –

• High Performance Liquid Chromatograph (HPLC) with Computerised analysis facility from world renowned Agilent Technologies Ltd
• Double beam UV-Vis Spectrophotometer (UV 1800) from the Shimadzu Corporation
• Ultra high speed Cooling Microcentrifuge
• Electrophoresis Apparatus with power conditioner
• Digital Analytical Balances
• Fourier Transformed Infra-Red Spectroscope with ATR (FTIR-ATR) Etc.

Animal House

Drugs and pharmaceuticals need to be tested on animals prior to human administration. Therefore, a Pharmacy college need to maintain a well equipped Animal House Facility for enabling the students to study the effect of drugs on animal models. In line with this requirement, our College maintains a well equipped Animal House, set up and maintained as per the guidelines of CPCSEA (Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision on Experiments on Animals). The facility is manned by well trained staff and supervised by duly qualified and experienced Faculty members. The area is used for breeding and carrying out experiments required for regular UG and PG practicals as well as specialized experiments conducted by students for their PG research work (Projects). The animal house is backed by a well equipped Pharmacology laboratory. Experiments are conducted and used / dead animals are disposed off strictly as per the guidelines of CPCSEA. Our Animal house maintains several species of animals such as mice, rats, guineapigs, and Rabbits. The facility comprises of wash area, animal feed store, animal cages, etc. The animals are segregated in separate areas for breeding and experimentation. The animals being used for different experiments are separated and properly labeled and their lists are maintained. Students need to take prior approval from the IAEC (Institutional Animal Ethics Committee) for all experiments involving animals as per the CPCSEA guidelines.

IT Facilities

The computer center is the heart of any technical Institute. With the recent boom in information technology (IT), computer has become an absolute necessity in every stream of education as well as in every profession. BST has therefore, made a huge investment in setting up and maintaining an excellent computer center with new age technology to integrate the use of IT. The Computer Center offers an excellent infrastructure for imparting software and hardware skills to the students using latest software tools and technologies. The institute has sophisticated, state-of-the-art computer lab, a fully networked environment, high performance servers, the latest Pentium based machines, broadband internet access facilities, all the required software (licensed), the best of printers, scanners, CD/DVD writers, leased line internet connection, standard application packages, special statistical packages, CAD/CAM Workstations, Decision Support Systems and electronic databases. Students are assured of more than adequate computer time, an excellent IT environment, qualified and extremely helpful staffs and all the necessary software support. The students can work on their assignment, prepare their presentations, pursue computer courses, learn new languages, keep up to date with technology, perfect their programming skills, receive on-line training and hone their computing skills here.

Class Rooms

The class rooms are well-lit, airy and spacious with comfortable sitting arrangements. The rooms are equipped with audio-visual teaching aids to make the teaching-learning process more interesting and to create a visual impact in the minds of the students. The students are encouraged to interact with the teachers inside of the classrooms and outside of the classrooms to enjoy the benefits to a two-way communication.

Museum

A Pharma museum with display of proprietary medicines, containers, closures, instruments etc. is established which proves to be very informative and educative.

Auditorium

The college also has a well-furnished auditorium with seating capacity of 100 persons for conducting seminars, special training sessions, guest lecturers etc.

Cafeteria

A Canteen has been established in the college campus for supplying hygienic and nutritious foods to the students, faculties and staffs at a reasonable price.

Hostel

Bengal School of Technology is a fully residential Institute with lush green pollution-free environment. In Campus Hostel is provided separately for Boys and Girls by the Institute for the students with spacious, well ventilated rooms, free from noise.

Hostels provide a comfortable living facilities including round the clock electricity, water and security.

Under the close monitoring by the Hostel Superintendent, students are taken due care for their food, study atmosphere and recreations.

Strict disciplines are enforced upon the conduct of the boarders of the hostels in terms of their habits, pass times, behaviour, routine, ensuring that they grow up in a healthy atmosphere. The management of the institution strictly deals with violation of any code of discipline. Ragging in any form is punishable following legal orders by the “Supreme Court of India”.
