Chakdaha College, Nadia was established in the year 1972 under the pioneering initiative of the-then Deputy Speaker of West Bengal Assembly, Hon'ble Haridas Mitra. In the year 1975, the then Chief Minister of West Bengal, Hon'ble Siddhartha Shankar Roy has inaugurated this college. The college is affiliated to the University of Kalyani. It has been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation (NAAC).

The college has grown into a leading and prestigious Undergraduate academy. Chakdaha College Courses offers both general and honors courses in Humanities, Science and Commerce subjects. The College has more than 70% of the teachers, who have achieved either Ph.D or M.Phil degree.

Chakdaha College Scholarships:

The college awards scholarships to meritorious and eligible students studying in their college. The scholarships awarded to the students are mentioned below:

• The stipend is awarded to poor and meritorious students by teachers council.
• Students belonging to SC, ST and OBC categories are also awarded scholarships by the Govt. of India.
• On the basis of merit and attendance in classes SC/ST students each year will get a monthly stipend of INR 500/- for the eleventh plan period (2007-12). The eligible candidate has to submit the caste and income certificate.
• Students’ union also helps students in financial distress.
