DAVV, or Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, was established in 1964 in Indore as a State University. DAVV was initially known as the University of Indore. It serves 3,00,000 students every year with well-qualified human resources and value-based education. DAVV admission for the courses BCA, BA, M.Sc, MA, MBA, and PG Diploma can be made online on the university's official website. DAVV accepts entrance examinations like CLAT/IILET/LSAT/MAT/CAT/XAT/CMAT/GMAT/ATMA. The candidates can submit the scores of these examinations during admissions.

In 1988 DAVV was renamed 'Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya' after the Holkar Maharani 'Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar' of the Maratha Empire. DAVV  has 264 affiliated colleges.
