Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, [DU] was established in the year 1924 by the University of Delhi. Faculty of Law Delhi is the national hub of legal studies. The University is completely funded by National exchequer through UGC and HRD Ministry. The Faculty of Law was initially located in the Prince's Pavilion in the Old Vice Regal Lodge Grounds and later moved to the present location on Chhatra Marg. It is Accredited to NAAC with Grade A.
Faculty of Law Admissions can be done on LLB, LLM and PhD courses. It also offers Post Graduate and Research programmes. The LLM and PhD programmes are looked after directly by the Dean.
A number of foreign delegations visit the department to share their knowledge and benefit the students. Professors from other Universities including foreign Universities visit the University campus on various fellowship programs and conduct research in this institution. A Few Memorandums have been signed-in between the department and corresponding departments of the foreign universities. National and International Seminars, Workshops and Conferences are organized regularly at the department level to share the new ideas.

The LLB Degree Course was initially treated as a two-year part-time Course and was conducted in the morning in the year 1942. The Syllabus, Reading Materials, and examination are common for the LLB Course. It is a Full-time professional course recognised and regulated by the Legal Education Rules of the Bar Council of India.
The teaching of LLM, MCL and PhD and the responsibility of coordination and supervision of the functioning are with the Dean and Head of the Faculty of Law. The Faculty of Law offers Masters of Law in specialising LLM, Master of Comparative Laws (MCL), PhD and the Doctor of Civil Laws programmes. LLM courses are open to working persons also. The LLM and MCL students are given reading materials of high standards in all the Courses.

The University offers a number of Prizes, Medals and Scholarships to its students. The College has the state of art facilities which includes the library also. The Library in faculty of Law was established in July 1924. The library has a dedicated E-Resource Centre with computers. It will give access to a large number of electronic databases of journals and reference sources. Thousands of online and offline databases are subscribed by the University of Delhi in all respected subjects. All students and the faculties may apply for their individual login and password to access the whole database.
The North Campus of Delhi University is wi-fi enabled and students and the faculties may access the full database on their laptops and smartphones. It organizes orientation and literacy programmes for students for the promotion of usage of e-resource.
Another Facility called Culture Council which is a statutory body of the University of Delhi functioning under the aegis of the Dean and Students Welfare. It is a vibrant cultural body that organizes a variety of cultural programmes and competitions at the University/College level. The Culture Council organizes street play, ghazal, debate, dance, music vocal/instrumental, both classical and semi-classical, theatre, etc. It also Organises an annual Inter-College youth festival and started a Newsletter called Glimpse Jhalak.
The University also provides Hostel accommodation for both males and females.

Is the CLAT Exam is Compulsory for LLB?
- It is mandatory to appear for the entrance exam called CLAT for LLB course. There is however no such requirement for the course as you can seek direct admission based on merit.

The Admissions of all courses offered by the university can be done online on the official website. Any query relating to admissions of the students can be made directly to the respective Centres. No enquiry relating to admission will be entertained after the expiry of 3 months from the last date of admission.
The LLB and LLM degree course admission will be held as per the university notice on the website. The Candidates should appear for a counselling which is held at the office of the Admission Committee on the specified date and time with all relevant documents in original along with photocopies and fees. For the admission of the PhD candidates, there will be an entrance test which is conducted online at various centres. There will be an Interview followed by the entrance test.
The University provides infrastructure facilities which include the hostel facilities also. It provides Hostel Accommodation for both males and females. There are 18 hostels for both male and female students pursuing full-time, post-graduate and research Programmes in the University. Students of LLB, LLM, MCL and PhD scholars are entitled to the allocated number of the seats in the University hostels for Post-Graduate Students on the basis of merit and as per the rules and procedure prescribed from time to time by the University and the hostel authorities.
