Thrissur is a gleaming mark of the quintessence. GCFATCR institution has more than 100 years of experience in Fine Arts and one of the three Fine Art institutions under the Technical Education Department in Thrissur, Kerala. It is affiliated to Calicut University. The institute is a Technical Commercial Industrial School, was established in 1910 with the name of Trade School. And that changed to Government Occupational Institute for the period 1943-1975. And in 1975 the institute was upgraded with the status of Government college of Fine Arts. In 2000, the status was raised as it got its affiliation from the University of Calicut and offered BFA Degree in 3 Specializations. And in the year 2019, Art History & Visual studies has also started. There are numerous outstanding Indian Artists who are emerged from God’s own country. Art institution has played a vital role in the lives of many of them. And it has a pride of place among them. 

Initiate youngsters to work as an artist, designers, and visual strategist with their own life terms and work with the world. Art institution was basically an industrial internship where produces skilled people and vocational laborers. Art is a very interesting creative profession as it deals with the mind which is philosophical and realistic and tries to abstract ideas from the world. Creates its own material and systems for mankind. It is created with academic environments to deal with creative talents in young people. And moreover, the college is systemized in a way wherein professional skills are imparted to make them employable. The inheritance that has created in the field of arts and craft is incredible and enormous. The college has built up a special platform for aspiring artists & Designers. It has an impact in the entire field of education which has become synonymous with a certain set of courses only.

GCFATR Admission Procedure 2020

• Based on the candidate's score of 40% in the entrance examination & Practical exam, they will be shortlisted for the interview process.
• And the interview will be held at the college premises.
• The final rank list will be based on the performance in all the 3-selection process (Entrance test, practical examination, and interview).

• The candidates can obtain the application form from the Principal or by submitting a demand draft in favor of the principal of the fine arts college, Thrissur.
• The selection of the candidates for the fine arts is done on the basis of the entrance & practical examination followed by the personal interview conducted by the college.

GCFATR Infrastructure 2020

• Library - The library is spacious and equipped with 4000 books with internet connectivity. The books cover all major areas of Art, Design, philosophy, visual culture, literature- both western and Indian, history, and contemporary theory.
• Computer Laboratories - Well-equipped computer lab. Workshops that empower understudies to utilize these offices for film or video, to be it in the product format or a creative work of art format. They are versatile to any new innovation coming up that demonstrates value to the execution of the visual idea.
• Photography Studio - Photography studio gives advanced professional training to the students. The students get all fundamental technical knowledge for starting a career in specialist photography domains like fashion photography, studio photography, product photography, etc.
• Conference Hall - The college has a conference hall with a seating capacity of 300. It equipped with a World-class Sound system and video projection facilities. Visiting faculty sessions and seminars will be regularly conducted in the conference hall.
