Government College of Fine Arts, [GCFATCR] Thrissur is located at the heart of Thrissur, Kerala. More than 100 years of existence has given a unique character to the institution in the history of arts institutions in India. The institute is one of the three fine art institutions in Kerala. It is affiliated with the University of Calicut. The institute started functioning in 1910. During the time of the second world war, the institute was renamed as 'Trade School'. From 1943 to 1975 this institute was renamed as Govt Occupational Institute. In 1975 the institute was upgraded with the status of Government Institute of Fine Arts.

BFA Program
The BFA is an undergraduate course that consists of fine arts subjects. The course has a duration of 3 years. Instead of functional value, fine arts are practiced primarily for their aesthetic value and their beauty.
