ICFAI group was established in the year 1984 as a non-profitable organization for society. The institute made its debut in India in the year 1985 by launching a high-end educational program in the field of financial analytics. This program was one of a kind in India as it targets working professionals and students as well.

ICFAI University, Ranchi was established under sub-Section (2) of Section 4 of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India University Act, 2006 (Jharkhand Act 08, 2007). It is recognized by UGC under section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. This institute is empowered by UGC to award degrees under Section 22 of UGC Act, 1956. The aim of the university is to provide top-class education in the field of management, engineering, and law.

ICFAI University Facilities has administrative and academic blocks.
