IIT Kharagpur campus has been carved out with a stunning panorama of flora and water bodies for morning workouts, evening walks and spending some time in isolation drinking in the freshness of the campus. In addition, the campus provides various facilities to the students for a better learning experience. More details regarding the IIT Kharagpur infrastructure are given below.
Counseling Centre: The counselling centre provides a wide range of services, including psychological examination, individual therapy, group therapy, and medication and management. It has full-time clinical psychologists on staff and a visiting psychiatrist. The centre has also begun an outreach effort to form a team of trained wing representatives from each residence hall who can assist students in need. In addition to individual sessions, the centre intends to hold group sessions to address life skills such as assertiveness, problem-solving, anger management, self-awareness, and interpersonal relationships.
Library: The IIT Kharagpur library is one of the largest & finest in Asia. Over 3.5 lakhs of documents and subscriptions to about 100+ journals are available at IIT Kharagpur. It also has access to about 26000 online full-text journals and about 135000+ e-books for students and staff members.
Hospital: The IIT Kharagpur campus has a hospital with 32 beds, including a two-bed intensive care unit, cabins, and an isolation ward. B C Roy Technology Hospital serves the campus community 24 hours a day, seven days a week through its Out Patient Department (OPD), Indoor Wards, and Emergency Unit. Around 7000 patients visit the B C Roy Technology Hospital's outpatient department every month. In addition, the hospital offers a pharmacy store that is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It also has a video-conferencing system for telemedicine. Biomedical waste from B C Roy Technology Hospital is disposed of regularly under a contract with the West Bengal State Government Environment Department.
Hostel: The campus of the institute is entirely residential. Quarters are given to faculty and personnel. Guests may be accommodated in guest houses while the residential unit is assigned and renovated (if required). The IIT Kharagpur hostel has subsidised electricity and water supply 24 hours a day and internet access through LAN and Wi-Fi. If necessary, the resident may apply for a land phone connection at the institute.
Bank and ATM: IIT Kharagpur is close to the State Bank of India, which offers foreign currency services. On the first floor of the main building is the Syndicate Bank. The Punjab National Bank is located in the Tech Market, where commerce is done in the afternoon. State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Syndicate Bank, and Axis Bank have set up seven ATM booths across the campus in key areas.
Market Place: The IIT Kharagpur facilities include a tech market with everything from furniture to fresh fruit juice on offer. There are chemists, tailors, booksellers, and photocopying, word processing, and offset printing services in the market. Gole Bazaar is roughly 5 kilometres from the campus. Another market, the IIT-DVC market, is located right on campus.
Canteen: Subway, Cafe Coffee Day, and Baskin Robbins are located on campus. Heritage, Sahara, Dreamland, Veggies, Super-Duper, Tikka, Billoos' Restaurant, and others are among the restaurants. Tea, coffee, soft beverages, and light snacks such as Tikka and PFC are available at a few locations on the institute grounds. There are several other restaurants within a one-kilometre radius of the campus.
