Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, Mumbai, is equipped with the latest and state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. Location: IHM Mumbai is located in the bustling neighbourhood of Dadar, the heart of Mumbai. The college offers easy access to students commuting from far-off towns since Dadar is the only railway station common to Central and Western lines. The prime location of the institute has proximity to many schools, hospitals, and restaurants in its vicinity.

Training Kitchen: All training kitchens in IHM Mumbai are equipped with the latest equipment needed to train future chefs. The institute has three training kitchens for students.

  • The Advanced Training Kitchen (ATK)
  • This kitchen is used for training final year students in the BSc. H&HA course. It serves the training restaurant “The Graduate''.

Computer Lab: IHM Mumbai has 25 computers connected on LAN to enable transfer between these terminals and the server, facilitating paperless assessments.

Hostel

  • IHM Mumbai Hostel offers separate accommodation to boys and girls. The students get access to a calm and patient atmosphere. 
  • The IHM Mumbai hostel allotment depends on a first-come, first-serve basis. 
  • Additional caution money is submitted during the time of receiving hostel accommodation.
  • The boys hostel boasts of 45 well-furnished rooms, which are usually given out on a triple sharing basis, and the girls hostel consists of 20 spacious rooms, which are also given out on a triple sharing basis.
  • In addition, the college also offers NRI hostels for girls of 9 rooms for those who are admitted from the NRI quota. Rooms come equipped with a kitchenette.

Library: The IHM Mumbai library offers more than 5000 hospitality books and various journals and magazines, which the students can study. Internet ports are also provided everywhere, including the dining hall, cafeteria, hostel to access online libraries.

The Quality Food Kitchen (JFK): This kitchen is used to train 3rd semester and 4th-semester students in the BSc H&HA course. It is mainly used for bulk food products and services in the dining hall (students mess).

Basic Training Kitchen: This kitchen is used to train 1st&3rd-semester students in the BSc H&HA course.

Individual Kitchen (ITK): This kitchen trains 3rd semester and 4th-semester students in the BSc H&HA course. It also serves the training restaurant, “Fusion”.

Demo Kitchen: This kitchen in IHM Mumbai is used to organise workshops in cooking, baking, chocolate making, etc.

Training Restaurants

  • The Graduate: This is a formal fine dining restaurant that can seat approximately 100 pax for a meal. The advanced training kitchen provides for the menu to be served here. There is also a mock bar setup in this restaurant to train students in cocktail making and service.
  • The fusion: This formal fine dining restaurant can also sit approximately 100 pax for a meal. The individual training kitchen (ITK) provides for the menu to be served here.

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : There are three hostels 2 for girls and 1 for boys. The girl's hostels are divided into NRI and general hostels. There are PGs nearby as well. The hostel food is not that great, and the lunch is served for all students in the college mess for free. The infrastructure of the college is poor as it is an old college located in a very small space.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The admission is based on the rank you secured in the entrance examination AIR. A rank above 1000 can get you a seat in IHM, Mumbai.

Placements & Internships : Four months internships are there in the second year. Stipends depend upon the hotels and usually varies between INR 1,000-5,000 per month. Most of the hotels that come for recruitment are 5-star hotels and several travel companies, cinema, and fast food chains also come for placements. The alumni network is quite vast. And the salary usually varies between INR 15,000-30,000 per month.

Fees & Scholarships : Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, [IHMCTAN] Mumbai Fee Structure. The course fee is about INR 85,000 per annum. There are no scholarships, and student can obtain bank loans with the help of the institute.

Academics & Faculty : The class timings are from 9 am to 4:30 pm. There will be both practicals and theory almost every day. The faculty is very experienced, and the quality of education is top class.

Clubs & Associations : There are many fests held by the college and various clubs and committees such as literary, cultural, creative, photography, etc. The college promotes extracurricular growth of the students along with academics.

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : There are three hostels-one general hostels for boys, one general hostel for girls, and an NRI hostel for girls. Students with high AIR rank can get into the NRI hostel. The NRI hostel is air-conditioned and has good facilities and is around INR 2 Lakh per annum. The classrooms are all good. The quality of education is superior.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : In order to get admission into IHMs, I had to clear the AIR examination. A rank above 1000 (general category) will get you in IHM Mumbai by final round or spot allotment.

Placements & Internships : There is a compulsory internship for 4 months in the second year, which can be done anywhere. The hotel should be a 5-star hotel; the front office, food & beverage service, housekeeping, and kitchen areas are given more importance during the internship. IHM conducts internship placements in the institute itself. Students who wish to do it outside Mumbai can do so.

Academics & Faculty : The classes start at 9:30 am, and there are both practical and theory classes every day. I really loved my college, and the faculty includes some of the pioneers in the hotel industry, and they are very well trained.

Clubs & Associations : There are various clubs such as literary, cultural, photography, kitchen, etc. for students to join. The college also holds various tests, and students are very active in all. The college promotes extracurricular activities such as sports as well.

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : There is a boys hostel and girls hostel and the charges for both are more or less same. There is a great atmosphere. The building is quite old but it still looks beautiful with all the flower arrangements and regular maintenance. 

Entrance Exams & Admissions : Eligibility criteria for sitting in the entrance is 70+ marks in English in your 12th marks sheet.

Fees & Scholarships : The college fee is around INR 60k-70k/ year.

Academics & Faculty : Daily routine starts with your classes depending upon the schedule you get. There are practical classes and theory classes. Methods and quality of teaching are superb. 

Clubs & Associations : All festivals are celebrated in the college and if you're from Maharashtra it would be such a treat to your eyes seeing everyone dancing and enjoying in Ganesh Chaturthi especially. All kinds of clubs and competitions for great thinkers, musicians, sportspersons, artists, etc. Cornucopia is the greatest fest of IHM, Mumbai and is also known in all of the Mumbai.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : To get admission in IHM Mumbai you need to clear your class 12 with minimum 33%. After that, you need to give the joint entrance exam of hotel management NCHMJEE. Topical cut off for general categories people it's generally around 800-1000.

Placements & Internships : You have to do a compulsory internship of 4 months of which you get a stipend of ₹1000 per month with working hours of 10 hours each day. Campus selection has the highest salary of 30k per month. Poor alumni network

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : There are a boys hostel and a girls hostel located in the campus itself. There are a number of PGs outside college and the contact information for the agents is available in the college. The hostel fees for the year 2017-18 is 60k/month. The lunch is provided in the college free of charge to all students. The classrooms are large and airy. It is a huge on-campus library, a computer lab, a student's mess, a cafetería, wifi hotspots courtesy of Vodafone, two restaurants for training students, 4 kitchens, and 2 bakeries.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : There is an annual entrance test called NCHMCT JEE, it has questions on general aptitude, scientific aptitude, arithmetic, English and basic hospitality knowledge. The cutoff depends on where you want to take admission. The eligibility is cleared 10+2 with any stream and English as one of the languages.

Placements & Internships : I have finished industrial training at the Lalit golf and spa resort goa for a duration of 17 weeks. After completion of the course, there are a huge number of campus students placements with a wide range of packages starting from around 15k/month to a max of 34k/month (for the year 2017-18). 

Fees & Scholarships : The average fees amount to 78k/year. There is a college scholarship available but it is not enough to pay the whole fees. 10-15 students get the scholarship per batch.

Academics & Faculty : The classes are from 0900 to 1630 hours. The teachers are very experienced and notes are circulated regularly.
