JIS College of Engineering , Kolkata provides financial assistance to the students in the form of scholarships and educational loans. The Institute has the facility of providing scholarship schemes under central and state Government respectively to the students enrolled in Graduate and Post Graduate programs. The students can apply to the scholarships as per notification from the Government. The list of Government scholarship schemes are mentioned below.

Prime Ministers Scholarship Scheme

  • For wards/widows of deceased CAPFs & AR personnel died in harness/election duty, wards of personnel disabled due to causes attributable to Government service and Wards of Ex-CAPFs & AR personnel in receipt of Gallantry Awards.
  • For wards/widows of retired and serving CAPFs & AR Personnel. (Personnel below Officer Rank)
  • Pursuing first professional degree programme in the field of Engineering, Medicine, Dental, Veterinary, BBA, BCA, B. Pharma, B.SC (Nursing, Agriculture, etc.), MBA and MCA etc. 
  • Having a minimum 60% marks in Minimum Entry Qualification (MEQ) i.e. 10+2/Diploma/Graduation or equivalent in case of a new applicant. Or For applicants applying under renewal category, it is mandatory to pass each subsequent academic year of the professional courses being pursued by them with minimum 50% marks.
  • A grace period of one year only for cases, where there is a delay on part of a candidate for submission of application for renewal of scholarship may be entertained.

Kanyasree Scholarship

  • JIS College also offers the Kanyasree Scholarship which aims to reduce dropouts, especially amongst girls from low-income families, who are not under any other scholarship. To prevent child marriage in West Bengal by increasing the enrolment of girls in secondary education, vocational or sports training.
  • The Kanyasree Scholarship has its own website and you need only apply from there.

Ekalyan

  • Ekalyan is a scholarship scheme founded to help the marginally backward members of of our society, they must meet the following criteria-
  • Student must be of Jharkhand State.
  • Student must be either Schedule Tribe (ST) or Schedule Caste (SC) or Backward Class (BC).
  • Ekalyan has its own online webiste, candidates must apply there.

MAKAUT Student Welfare Scholarship

There exists a student welfare committee that provides a government funded scholarship scheme for those under the umbrella of MAKAUT. To apply or avail this scholarship, the candidate must visit the official government website.

Vidyasarathi Scholarship

Vidyasaarathi enables underprivileged students to receive financial assistance via corporate-funded scholarships. Due to unaffordable and increasing fees structure of the higher education in India many students misses out on the higher education due to lack of funds, it aims to bridge the gap in education finance in the country through an online platform. Students can search and apply to various education finance schemes for that they are qualified for on the official Vidyasaarathi website. 

Vidyalakshmi Scholarship

  • JIS College of Engineering, Kolkata offers the Vidyalakshmi Scholarship as a form of educational loan, different banks will give different interest rates.
  • One must go to the official Vidyalakshmi Scholarship website to register and apply.

AICTE – SWANATH SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME – 2021 – 2022

  • This scholarship scheme is offered to candidates at JIS College who were orphaned OR parents (either/both) died due to Covid 19 OR  they are wards of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces martyred in action.
  • Family income from all sources should not be more than Rs. 8 lakh per annum during the financial year of the application.
  • The candidate should be currently studying in the AICTE Approved institutions and courses at Degree/ Diploma level in regular mode.
  • Candidates who satisfy these conditions will recieve an amount of INR 50,000 per annum for every year of study.

    Documents Required

  • A valid income certificate issued by State/UT Government is to be enclosed. 
  • Current year income certificate explicitly mentioning that income of family less than 8 Lakh.
  • 10+2/equivalent and 10th Mark sheet for Degree Level and 10th /equivalent for Diploma Level
  • Bonafide Certificate issued by the institution.
  • Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL)
  • For Candidates whose either or both Parents Died due to Covid 19.
  • Death Certificate of Father/Mother or both explicitly mentioning that the death was due to Covid-19.
  • If one parent (Father or Mother) is alive, current year income certificate explicitly mentioning that income of family less than 8 Lakh.

Pragati Scholarship Scheme for Girl Student 

  • The candidate should be admitted to 1st year of Degree/Diploma course in any of the AICTE approved Institution.
  • The Scholarships for Degree and Diploma are transferable in event of nonavailability of eligible applicant in any of the Degree/Diploma level Programme.
  • Two Girls Child per family are eligible, who’s family income is not more than 8 lakh per annum during the preceding financial year (in case of married girl, the income
    of parents/in-laws, whichever is higher will be considered).
  • The selection of candidate will be made on merit on the basis of qualifying examination to peruse the respective Technical Degree/Diploma course from any of
    the AICTE approved institution.
  •  Amount of scholarship- Tuition Fee of Rs. 30,000/- or at actual, whichever is less
    and Rs.2000/- per month for 10 months as incidentals charges each year.
  • In case of Tuition fee waiver/reimbursement, Students are eligible to get an amount of
    Rs. 30,000/- for the purchase of Books/Equipment/Softwares/ Laptop/Desktop/Vehicle/Fee paid towards competitive examination applications
    forms/exam.
  • Reservation-15% for SC, 7.5% for ST and 27% for OBC candidate/applicant.

  • Mark Sheet of standard Xth /XIIth / others as applicable.
  • Annual family Income Certificate for the preceding financial year in the prescribed format issued by ,not below the rank of Tahsildar.
  • Admission letter issued by Directorate of Technical Education for the admission in Diploma/Degree course.
  • Certificate issued by the Director/Principal/ Head of the Institute.
  • Tuition fee receipt.
  • AADHAR seeded Bank Pass Book in the name of the student indicating Account number, IFSC code and Photograph
  • Caste Certificate for SC/ST/OBC category.

    child is correct and will refund Scholarship amount, if found false at any stage. 

Saksham Scholarship Scheme for Specially-Abled Students

  • The Scholarships for Degree and Diploma are transferable in event of nonavailability of eligible applicant in any of the Degree/Diploma level Programme.
  • The candidate should be admitted to 1st year of Degree/Diploma course in any of the AICTE approved Institution 
  • Specially Abled Student, having disability of not less than 40% and family income not more than 8 lakh per annum during the preceding financial year (in case of married girl, the income of parents/in-laws, whichever is higher will be
    considered).
  • The selection of candidate will be made on merit on the basis of qualifying examination to peruse the respective Technical Degree/Diploma course from any of the AICTE approved institution.

West Bengal  Freeship Scheme

  • WBFS is for the under Graduate students level in Engineering & Technology/ Pharmacy/ Architecture programmes conducted by the self financing private Engineering and Technical Institutions of the State.
  • Candidate must secure ,erit rank in State Level/National Level Entrance Examination.
  • Candidate must be domicile of the West Bengal.
  • Annual family income of the candidate must not be more than Rs.2.50 lakhs.
  • Candidates selected under Tuition Free Waiver (TFW) Scheme of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) or West Bengal Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means Scholarship Scheme will not be eligible under this WBFS.
  • West Bengal Freeship Scheme, has its own website where candidates must go, to apply.

Oasis Scholarship

  • The candidate must be a student of class 9th and 10th and belong to SC category.
  • Candidate must be a student of class 9th and 10th and belong to the ST category.
  • The family income should be less than 2 Lakh per annum.
  • The applicant should be a West Bengal resident.
  • The applicant should have scored 50% cumulative marks in the previous final examination.
  • The applicant should have attained a certain number of required attendance.
  • 30% of the scholarship programs are reserved for female students.
  • The scholarship will be given to only 2 applicants from the same family or blood relation.

Aikasree Scholarship

  • Fully funded by the West Bengal State Government, the Aikasree scholarship supports the entire educational expenses of the deserving meritorious students. The monetary help includes hostel stay fees and free of cost school and college education for meritorious students.
  • The course fee along with maintenance allowances will be paid to the student via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) mode.
  • The Aikasree Scholarship has its own website, one can apply from there.

  • The scheme benefits students studying in regular mode of Class XI and XII, and at under Graduate level in Science/Arts/Commerce, Engineering, Medical and Technical / Professional courses. Post Graduate level students pursuing Science/Arts/Commerce & Technical/Management. These scholarships will be sanctioned to deserving students on merit-cum-means criteria.
  • Candidates for different categories must submit their applications online in the scholarship portal.
  • For renewal of scholarship, application must be submitted online to the concerned scholarship sanctioning authority within one month from the date of his/her admission in the next higher class due to promotion by passing in the first attempt.
