Overview

Kalna College, established in 1943 in the heritage-rich town of Kalna, West Bengal, has a long legacy of academic excellence. Located a kilometer from both the Ambika Kalna railway station and the Ganges, the college offers higher education under the University of Burdwan. It provides Honours courses in 15 subjects, including unique offerings like Santali and Sociology, alongside a B.Ed program approved by NCTE. Since 2017, it has also offered postgraduate programs in Bengali and English, implementing the NEP-2020 under the Choice Based Credit System.

With around 5,000 students, the college boasts robust science laboratories and a well-equipped library with rare books, automated lending, INFLIBNET membership, and subscriptions to nine journals. Recently accredited with an A-grade by NAAC, the institution has received a new composite building and a women’s hostel, demonstrating its commitment to infrastructure development. Sustainability initiatives include a solar power grid and rainwater harvesting for campus gardens.

The college runs an extended morning shift for Arts General education and organizes employability training with TCS and its Career Counseling Cell. Active NCC and NSS units contribute to community welfare, while its yoga center offers certificate courses through Burdwan University. Kalna College continues to uphold its legacy as a prominent center of education and cultural harmony.

Kalna College Course Fee and Eligibility

With a total of 32 courses offered at Kalna College, the college offers education in the field of Art& science, among other streams to the students. Kalna College Admission

1. Admissions to 1st-year B.A., B.Sc., and B.Com. (General and Honours) begin shortly after the Higher Secondary Examination results are announced.
2. Candidates who have passed the H.S. Exam or equivalent (recognized by WBCHSE, ISC, or CBSE) are eligible for the 1st-year undergraduate courses under the three-year (1+1+1) system.
3. Applications must be submitted using the prescribed form, with incomplete forms subject to rejection.
4. Required documents include attested copies of certificates/mark sheets/admit cards from Madhyamik or H.S. exams, an original character certificate from the last institution attended, and applicable SC/ST/Disability certificates.
5. Admission is granted strictly based on merit.
6. Students must review the prospectus, notices, and admission rules carefully when choosing their subjects.

Kalna College Scholarship

Financially disadvantaged students at Kalna College benefit from tuition fee concessions. The Students' Union manages a Student Aid Fund to support those in need, while government stipends are available for meritorious students. Scholarships are provided to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and minority students as per government regulations.
