Konkan Gyanpeeth College of Engineering situated in Karjat, Maharashtra was established in 1994 out of the dream of Late Hon. Prabhakar Narayan (Appasaheb) Dharkar and Ex-Minister of the Maharashtra Government. The college is situated amidst the Sahyadri ranges which remain green throughout seasons and maintains their fresh atmosphere. The main aim of the institution is to provide quality education to students from the rural regions of Karjat in the Engineering and Technology stream. The self-financed institution is approved by AICTE and is affiliated with the University of Mumbai, Maharashtra. The institution offers undergraduate programs in about six disciplines with separate infrastructures for each of the disciplines as prescribed by the Mumbai University.

Computer Science Engineering

The Department of Computer Science integrates several fields of computer science and electronics engineering for developing computer hardware and software. The areas of employment opportunities are software, hardware, and networking, database, ethical hacking and security, digital marketing, etc. 

Electronics and Telecommunication

Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) in Electronics and Telecommunication is a 4-year program. The areas of employment opportunities are research, design and development, manufacturing, sales & marketing, maintenance, and repairing of electronics equipment.

Mechanical Engineering

The College offers a 4-year program in Mechanical Engineering. The department demands the student to have good knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics with good reasoning, logical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. The students graduating from the department have ample opportunities in the automobile, manufacturing, hydraulics, mining, aeronautical, biotechnology, power, and IT sectors. 

Instrumentation Engineering

The college offers a bachelor’s program in Instrumentation Engineering for a duration of 4 years. This program is a specialization program with its main focus on the design and configuration of automated processes. Instrument engineers usually work for the design and automation of process industries such as chemical, petrochemical, oil refineries, or manufacturing plants-steel, cement, fertilizers, pharmaceutical, etc.

Production Engineering

The production Engineering program offered by KGCE is a 4-year course and the students in the 7th semester are given industrial training for a period of 6 months as part of its curriculum. The areas of employment include core manufacturing, product design, and development, tool design, planning and operations, maintenance and servicing, quality control, sales and marketing, production, software development, etc.

KGCE Infrastructure

KGCE provides a number of facilities for the students' nourishment such as a central library, canteen, hostel, gym, transport, central computing facility and apart from these every department is provided with its own laboratories and many other facilities. The college has an 813 sq.m allotted for the central library ensuring a spacious environment enhancing the mood for the students to learn at peace. The library operates till 5 pm in the evening and has a seating capacity for more than 150 students. There are more than 32000 books, subscribed newspapers, national and international journals, and is an institutional member of IIT Mumbai. All the books in the library are classified according to the Dewey Decimal Classification System which is noteworthy. The cafeteria in the college is quite spacious and well equipped providing a well-planned meal in a highly hygienic manner. The menu provided by the canteen is both North and South Indian breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea/coffee, soft drinks, and snacks with a reasonable price range. In order to make commutation easier, the college provides 2 buses with defined routes for its day scholar students and staff thus enabling the students to completely concentrate on studies. The central computing center is fully equipped with systems, printers, scanners, and web cameras to fulfill all the general needs of the students. Each of the systems has an internet connection and industry software thus enabling the students to experiment, program, research, and to work on their projects.

Konkan Gyanpeeth College of Engineering Placement

The college has a placement and training cell completely to cater to the needs of the students for employment and related matters. The placement office is designed to handle and support the students at each and every step in the placement procedure. The placement cell organizes drives, job fairs, interviews, group discussions, pre-placement tasks, etc at the placement office. The seminar hall provided by the placement cell has a seating capacity of over 210 students. The facilities provided by the cell are

KGCE Eligibility Criteria

The college has framed certain eligibility criteria to be satisfied by the prospective students in order to secure an admission from the institution. The college does not provide admission for all those who satisfy the minimum eligibility since the admission is done purely on a merit basis. The eligibility criteria for the various courses include

BE Program Maharashtra State Candidature

  • The candidate should be a resident of India
  • The candidate should have completed HSC or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical vocational subject with an aggregate of 50% marks

Or

  • The candidate should have passed Diploma in Engineering and Technology with an aggregate of at least 50% mark

Or

  • The candidate should have passed B.Sc. Degree from a recognized University as defined by UGC with an aggregate of at least 50% marks
  • CET score conducted by the competent authority

All India, Jammu, and Kashmir Migrant Candidates

  • The candidate should be a resident of India.
  • In addition to the above eligibility the candidate can produce scores from either CET or JEE Main Paper I

Children of NRI/OCI/PIO, Children of Indian workers in the Gulf Countries, Foreign National Candidates

  • The Candidate should have passed the HSC or its equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or Technical Vocational Subject with an aggregate of at least 50% marks

BE (Direct Second Year):

  • The candidate should be a resident of India
  • The candidate should have passed Diploma in Engineering and Technology with an aggregate of at least 45% marks
  • The candidate should have completed HSC with Mathematics as a subject
  • Any other criteria imposed by any of the concerning authority

Konkan Gyanpeeth College of Engineering Admission

The college offers admission to the prospective students for their Bachelor’s program as soon as the HSC results and the final year graduation are declared. For every academic session, the institution offers a limited number of 60 seats only. The initial step of commencement of admission is an advertisement regarding the admission for the various programs published in the regional and national media and on the KGCE official website. The college grants admission completely on basis of merit following the guidelines of the University of Mumbai. The candidates opting for various courses are asked to fill in the registration and admission forms which can be obtained from the institution and to duly attest the required documents along with it. Management quota admissions are also done on a merit basis from the marks obtained from the qualifying examination. The dates regarding the admission for each academic year will be updated by the college and DTE via newspapers and official websites.

Cancellation of Admission

The candidates who are willing to withdraw their admission should apply online for cancellation and submit a signed copy of the application form upon which the institution shall cancel the admission at once and send back an acknowledgment of cancellation through institute login and issue a signed copy to the candidate. On cancellation of admission, the fee remitted will be refunded before the cut-off date and will be made within two days deducting a processing fee of Rs.1000. In case the candidate cancels the admission after the release of the cut-off date then no fees shall be refunded except the security deposit and caution money deposit by the concerned authority.


KGCE Hostel Details

KGCE has residential arrangements for both boys and girls on its premises. A separate hostel is provided for boys and girls by the institution. The boy's hostel has an accommodation capacity of 60 students and the girl's hostel can accommodate a student capacity of 40. The admission for the hostel facility is allotted on a first come first serve basis. The college promises the cleanliness of the hostel facility providing a hygienic and comfortable environment for its residing students.
