MIMS was founded by Dr. Kailash Narayan Singh to provide education to all people even the for he infirm and weaker sections of society. Dr. Singh moved to Canada to complete his education in 1960 and later he moved back to India in 1973 to do his MBBS studies at Magadh University, Bihar. Dr. Singh always had an innate desire to start a medical college, and hospital and open a trauma centre in eastern Bihar. MIMS is affiliated with Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University (RMLAU), offering various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Admission to these courses is done on the basis of NEET UG scores. 

 The college is equipped with various clubs including an NSS unit. They also have strict anti-ragging policies in force and a separate committee to ensure ragging doesn’t occur on the premises.

MIMS Admission

Mayo Institute of Medical Sciences admisisons are based on the score or ranks secured for the NEET UG and NEET PG. The NEET PG results have been announced and the cutoff marks and percentile have been listed in the cutoff section below. However, the NEET UG results are yet to be announced. Here are some key points to note while getting admission at MIMS

  • Must pass and secure a valid score at the NEET UG or NEET PG entrance exam.
  • Must pass 10+2 exams with subjects - physics, chemistry, biology, maths/another optional subject for maths, and English. If not, then any other Indian school certificate that holds an equivalent value of 10+2 education.
  • The selection process includes online NEET counseling at the national level which is conducted by the Director General of Health Services (DGHS). The registration is to be done on the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) portal. 

MIMS Eligibility Criteria

Mayo Institute of Medical Sciences offers various courses with different specializations like biochemistry, and community science, and each course has its basic eligibility criteria. Below we have listed the course-wise criteria to be eligible to take admissions here.

MBBS Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidate must pass 10+2 examination with 50% aggregate marks.
  • Must secure a valid score according to the cutoff in the NEET UG exam.
  • The age of candidate or applicant must be 17 years of age before 31st December 2022 to apply for the MBBS course.
  • Must attend the online NEET counseling session after registering on the MCC portal. The online fee is also to be paid on time.

B.Sc./GNM/ANM Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must complete 10+2 education with valid scores or complete a valid course that is certified and holds equivalent value.
  • Secure a valid rank in the NEET exam.

MS/MD Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidate must have qualified MBBS from a recognized certificate college or university. Otherwise must have a provisional MBBS pass from the MCI or State medical council.
  • Must secure an aggregate score of 50%. For SC/ST/OBC the score must not be below 40%.
  • Should have completed one year of internship program from a valid institution.
  • Secure a valid score that meets the cutoff requirement for the NEET PG exams.

MS/MD Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidate must have completed primary medical education from a certified university in India.
  • Or the candidate must qualify for the foreign medical graduate examination screening test. This is conducted by the national board of examination.

MIMS Cutoff

MIMS cutoff will be released after the announcement of NEET UG and NEET PG results. Candidates from SC/ST/OBC must secure at least the 40th percentile in the counseling rounds. The opening rank for the MBBS course in 2020 was 33594 and the losing rank was 314644. Post referring to the previous year’s cutoff patterns, the expected NEET UG cutoff for the general category is 50%, 40% for SC/ST/OBC, 45% for general PwD, and 40% for PwD falling in SC/ST/OBC category.

The cutoff list for NEET PG has been announced and the list is given below

  • The cutoff mark for the general category is 275 and must secure the 50th percentile.
  • General persons with disabilities (PwD) must secure 260 marks which is the 45th percentile.
  • SC/ST/OBC category and PwD falling in this category must secure 40th percentile which is 245 marks.
