LIBRARY

The Institute has a well equipped Library to cater to the literary and academic needs of Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Prosthetics and Orthotics students and faculties. For upgradation and modernization of library services, the Institute has taken various initiatives including computerization of library by using E-granthalaya software. Approximately 5000 Books have been entered on E-granthalaya till 31st March.2010.t.The Library has shifted to its new premises in the hostel basement during the month of December/January 2009. The library is being developed on modern lines in collaboration with CPWD engineers. Students, professionals and doctors of other institutions can also refer and avail the library facilities by becoming reference members.

The library is providing reference service, Internet facility, and photocopy services to library clientele. Rs. 12434/- and Rs. 596/- were deposited in Accounts sections as photocopy and internet charges. 108 presses clipping on disability and others related subjects were displayed on the library notice board.

HOSTEL

The Institute has the provision of a hostel for girls and boys students pursuing their 4½ years degree course of BPT/BOT/BPO, in one building inside the premises of the Institute. There are 42 rooms for girls and 27 rooms for boys. The rooms are allotted on twin sharing basis only to the students belonging to the places outside Delhi. For food, there is a common mess for girls and boys students in the hostel, which is managed by the students on co- operative basis. The expenditure incurred on running the mess is subsidized under the heading “Mess Wage Workers Salary Subsidy” i.e. Rs.10,000/- P.M.

The Institute is providing subsidy in the form of Manpower Support, utensils and other infrastructures and Gas Cylinders. Rupees 10,000/- per month each provided for one cook and three ‘Server’ boys. The Institute also pays fuel charges to run the Mess and provides up to 30 LPG Cylinders every month. Girls students have a separate Television on the 4th Floor of the girls hostel and boys students share the Mess Hall as Television Room.

WORKSHOP

The Prosthetics and Orthotics workshop is providing artificial limbs and supportive aids and appliances either free or on subsidized rates to the needy disabled persons, under ADIP Scheme of the Govt. of India. Workshop division has an integrated set up where disabled persons work hand in hand with their non disabled counter parts.The Institute is using high density polyurethane foam as a substitute of the willow wood. It makes the prosthesis lighter than conventional wooden prosthesis. Qualified and sk Orthotic appliances. The amputees are being fitted not only with the conventional prosthesis but also with below knee endoskeletal prosthesis, which is comparatively stronger, cosmetically acceptable/quick to fabricate and lighter in weight.
