Though newer on the block, Presidency University, Bangalore has been creating a stir with its near 100% placement rates. Yet they are diverting from the key issues of diversity and low salary packages.

After this year’s security concerns on campus, Presidency University, Bangalore, was on the headlines again. But this time to share a landmark feat. It has signed 105 International Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with renowned universities from 31 countries across the globe. Indeed an achievement to behold. 

With just 8 years in the education sphere, Presidency University, Bangalore, has emerged as one of the trusted educational spaces by students and parents alike. With an interactive campus and 8 school of faculties to choose from, the university has been known to offer global standards.

Global Standard Academic Programmes

Presidency University, Bangalore offers undergraduate, postgraduate and Doctoral programmes. Currently they have eight school of faculties which are:

  • School Of Information Science
  • School Of Computer Science & Engineering

Apart from this, the university also offers PhD. courses with research fellowship. The research fellowship is offered to meritorious students upto INR 24,000 a month. Also, the doctoral students are given a 30% concession on their annual fees. A gesture to encourage students to take research as their career path.

The faculties of Presidency University are highly qualified as well as experienced. Many of the faculty members are PhD. holders and have over 15 years of experience. The experience coupled with academic excellence of the faculties are transferred in their teaching methods. This enriches the learning experience of the students. 

Although, in spite of the experienced faculties, quite a few times, students can be heard criticizing some faculties. Either the faculties were inept in practical lessons or had insufficient theoretical knowledge.

Presidency University has a strict attendance policy wherein the students need to maintain 75% attendance. A slight deviation and students are barred from attending the examinations. While it puts students under constant pressure, it also ensures that they are regularly invested in their academic pursuit.

In comparison to the infrastructure offered by Presidency University, Bangalore, the course fees are set on a higher side. Even though placement rates are exceptional, they offer below average salary packages.

At Par Campus Infrastructure

Presidency University, Bangalore hosts an impressive college infrastructure. It is designed keeping the global standards in mind. It has a library that holds over 40,500 books, 343 national and international journals and 45 magazines. It is fully automated and complete with a Web Online Public Access Catalogue. The university even has its own library app that can be accessed anywhere by the students. The classrooms are spacious and ergonomic.

Presidency University, Bangalore regularly motivates students to participate in extracurricular activities. They have limited yet very effective and efficient sports facilities as well. Given the student intake, the administration should be proactive in strengthening and adding sports facilities in the campus. The overall well rounded development only nurtures the students.

Additionally, the Presidency University has a 650 seater state of the art auditorium. It is fully air-conditioned and has plush and comfortable seating arrangements to host a plethora of events. The entire campus area has more than one food court or cafeteria for the ease of students.

Each of the food court can seat 550 people at a time. It is hygienic and maintained well providing various eating options. Per the students, these cafeterias are budget friendly and they hardly need to visit outside for food. The campus is also under the CCTV surveillance, making it safe.

The campus has 24 hour ambulance service. Not only this they have a dedicated medical centre where a medical officer and a nurse from the Manipal Hospitals are present for any emergency. The medical centre also includes 10 inpatient beds and basic life support facilities.

Safe and Secure Hostel Facilities

Presidency University, Bangalore provides a homely hostel environment. The hostel facility is offered to both boys and girls. It is equipped with a medical room for quick medical actions and has friendly hostel staff. 

Only two types of rooms are available for the hostel for both boys and girls:

  • Twin Sharing
  • Triple Sharing

High Placement Rates with Average Salaries

Around 97% of the students get placed at the Presidency University, Bangalore. It is quite commendable given that it is fairly new on the block. Perhaps it has the best placement success among the newer colleges. However, it needs effort to pursue the companies to offer higher salary brackets. This will only ensure that the students are motivated throughout their academic journey and work hard. 

A total of 321 recruiters have visited for campus recruitment. The highest salary package offered so far is 11 LPA. Although the average salary package remains at 4 LPA. The university makes efforts to scour companies who offer internships to the students with the benefit of stipends. This way the students not only get to learn but also have the opportunity to earn.

As the students near their final year, they are groomed for the placements. It involves six steps to help build the required skills. These are:

Lack of Campus Diversity

Currently, Presidency University, Bangalore only admits Indian nationals. Nevertheless, their mission is to provide quality education irrespective of one's caste, creed, race, gender, and social status. Although they have provided no data regarding the student’s share in the campus on the mentioned parameters.

An essential aspect to note is that they have separately set up grievance cells for caste based discrimination, anti-ragging, equal opportunities, quality assurance cell, and more. This is unlike many other private universities, who do not strive to create such efforts. 

Shortage of Campus Activities

Presidency University, Bangalore, currently organizes a few fests and student’s activities. They only seem to hold only a management fest known as Cerebrum. This is a crucial area where the administration needs to focus. College festivals form an integral part of a student’s life on campus. It makes the campus vibrant and helps student’s develop skill sets.

Transportation Hassle

Presidency University, Bangalore is located at the outskirts of the city. Hence when it comes to daily commute, it poses a tedious job. Transportation facilities are provided by the college only to the hosteller for the weekends. For day scholars, it is a hassle to reach the campus daily. It would put the students at ease if the university provides transport facilities to the students.
