South Asian University, [SAU] is an international university founded by the South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation [SAARC]. The Prime Minister of India came up with the idea of this University in 13th SAARC Summit which took place in Dhaka in 2005. The project office for the university was established by the government of India in 2008. The University started its operation in 2010. It is recognised by the University Grants Commission [UGC] and by other SAARC countries. The University offers state of the art hostel facilities to its students and offers junior fellowship.
South Asian University offers courses at postgraduate and doctoral level in a variety of disciplines like Computer Science, Economics, Biotechnology, International Relations, Mathematics, Law and Sociology. The University will ultimately have about 11 postgraduate faculties and 1 faculty for undergraduate studies. The then Minister of External Affairs - Pranab Mukherjee, laid the foundation stone for the campus of the university in South Delhi.

Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science [FMCS]: The faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science in SAU offers the best faculty and provides Masters and PhD in concerned programmes. - SAU offers three categories of scholarships.
SAARC - India Silver Jubilee Scholarship:
- The students who belong to the least developed countries of SAARC are awarded this scholarship
SAU President's Award:
- The students who top the entrance exams of their respective countries are awarded this scholarship
- The students who come under the top 10 percentile of the combined merit list are also offered this scholarship
SAU Scholarship/ Financial Support:
- This scholarship is offered on the need cum merit basis to the students
Miscellaneous Information:
- The students of the university are offered a fee waiver of maximum INR 22,000 on tuition fee per semester along with an allowance of INR 7,000 per month
- The students who are awarded the scholarships also get to stay at the hostel free of cost
- The University also offers a startup amount of INR 10,000 to the scholarship awardees who belong to the SAARC nations other than India
- For Indians, the startup amount is just half of what the others are offered
