Placements & Internships : The college holds numerous seminars for career development of the students. I have done two industrial internships with due permission from the college and a good stipend amount. This college is accredited with Tech Mahindra, one of the top 5 IT companies in the country. They hire final year students, by conducting on-campus drives at Swami Vivekananda Institute of Science and Technology, Kolkata. The average salary is around Rs 3.25 lakhs per annum. This college has a diverse and experienced Alumni network. The alumni members are very helpful in case of bringing new companies to the college to conduct on campus drives.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The eligibility criteria for admission to Swami Vivekananda Institute of Science and technology is 60% in science stream for class 12 board exams or equivalent. You need to have a good rank in WBJEE or JEE MAIN to get admission to this college. Fees & Scholarships : The course fee is different for each semester. There are students studying for 100% fee waiver provided by the university to which the college is affiliated. Also, the college has a special scheme to provide scholarships to students in financial needs which extends up to 100% tuition fee waiver even. The number of students who get the university scholarship is limited to 4 students per branch per year. The scholarships provided by the college, however, is dependant on the decision of the governing body decisions. Yes, students can also avail loans. The college has tie ups with different banks who provide loans to students for pursuing their studies.

Academics & Faculty : The daily routine is classes from 10:30AM to 1:30AM, then a lunch break of 1 hour and again classes from 2:30PM to 5:00PM. The timetable for classes is very strictly followed with minimal class drops. The college has a collection of excellent faculty members who are pass-outs from prestigious institutes in the country. They deliver lectures that exactly fits into the groove of what the industry demands are in the current times. My overall experience in college is very good.

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : There are 6 hostels in all, separate for boys and girls. The hostels have spacious rooms with a maximum accommodation of just 3 students per room. The hostel fees are reasonable too at just Rs 3000 per month including food charges. There are numerous PGs available in the vicinity of the college campus. The PG charges range from Rs.1400 per month for only lodging to Rs.4000 per month which includes both food and lodging. SVIST boasts of a good canteen inside the college premises, which caters to the students during the lunch hours at rates which are almost half the prevalent rates in the market. The food to the hostels is supplied from the canteen itself. The average cost of a nonveg meal is Rs.30 only and that of a veg meal is Rs. 20. All the classrooms and labs are air conditioned. The SVIST library has a collection of over 50,000 books and an online version of the same is available to the students even at home. The college has wifi internet connectivity throughout its campus. 

Clubs & Associations : There are student societies and clubs in SVIST namely the Tech Club, which sees to the fact that the students are industry ready by the time they face the placement interviews. The cultural club, which is responsible for conducting the college fest. The literary club, which is in charge of the college magazine which is published once a year. The robotics club, which encourages the students to build robots and conducts seminars for the same. There is the annual cultural fest that is held in the month of October, named Enthuzea. Then there is the annual sports meet in February in which students and teachers participate alike. We have the annual technical fest named Innovention in April. The tech fest of SVIST is very popular and has The Telegraph as the press partner. The life in college is blissful. SVIST boasts of a ragging free campus, where the interactions between the seniors and juniors, help create a strong sense of unity and enriches education.
