KTET 2025 Eligibility Criteria for Category I: Lower Primary Classes (I - V) Teacher

Candidates need to fulfil any one of the below-mentioned KTET eligibility criteria:

  • A minimum of 45% marks in 12th/10+2 or equivalent and qualification certificate of the 2-year Teacher Training Course (TTC) conducted by Board of Examination, Govt. of Kerala or its equivalent.
  • A minimum of 45% marks in 12th/10+2 or equivalent along with a qualifying 2-year diploma in elementary education by NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations 2002.
  • A minimum of 50% marks in 12th/10+2 or equivalent and a degree in 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)
  • A minimum of 50% marks in Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary or its equivalent and a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

KTET 2025 Eligibility Criteria for Category II: Upper Primary Classes (VI-VIII) Teacher

Candidates need to fulfil any one of the below-mentioned KTET eligibility criteria 2025.

  • A minimum of 45% marks in B.A/B.Sc/B.Com degree and 2-year diploma Elementary Education/Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC) conducted by Board of Examination, Govt. of Kerala or its equivalent.
  • A minimum of 45% marks in B.A/B.Sc/B.Com degree with 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.), by regulations, norms, and procedure of NCTE as per the latest official notice.
  • A minimum of 50% marks in 12th/10+2 or equivalent and a degree in 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.).
  • A minimum of 50% marks in Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary or its equivalent and a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

KTET 2025 Eligibility Criteria for Category III: High School Classes (IX - X) Teacher

Candidates need to fulfil any one of the below-mentioned KTET eligibility criteria 2025:

  • A minimum of 45% marks in B.A/B.Sc/B.Com degree and a B.Ed. Degree in the subject concerned from any one of the universities in Kerala or having acquired these qualifications from any other universities recognized as equivalent to it.
  • A minimum of 50% marks in MSc.Ed. in the subject concerned if applying for Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology from any of the Regional Institutes of Education sponsored by NCERT.
  • A minimum of 50% marks in MSc.Ed. in Life Science if applying for Botany and Zoology from any of the Regional Institutes of Education sponsored by NCERT.

KTET 2025 Eligibility Criteria for Category IV: High School Classes (IX - X) Teacher

Candidates need to fulfil any one of the below-mentioned KTET eligibility criteria 2025:

  • I have acquired the qualifications for the posts of Language Teachers of Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit & Urdu (up to Upper Primary level), Specialist teachers & Physical Education teachers as mentioned in Chapter XXXI of Kerala Education Act And Rules.
  • Certificate/ Diploma/ Degree in teaching in any subject, and are approved by Universities/NCTE/ Board of Examinations/ Government of Kerala.

Note: SC/ST candidates will be given a 5% and PWD candidates will be given a 10% relaxation in marks in the minimum educational qualification.

Candidates must be 21 years of age to be eligible for the KTET 2025 exam. Authorities have not set any upper age limit under the KTET eligibility criteria 2025 for candidates.

KTET Nationality 2025

Category-wise KTET Age Relaxation 2025

SC, ST, and OBC candidates must note that their categories have specific age relaxation mentioned in the KTET eligibility criteria 2025. The pointers below will supply information on the same.

  • Category I (Lower Primar Classes): 5% relaxation in qualifying marks for SC?ST and PwD candidates, and 3% applies to OBC & OEC candidates.
  • Category II (Upper Primary Classes): SC, ST and PwD candidates get a relaxation of up to 5 marks. In comparison, OBC and OEC can get up to 3 marks relaxation within the minimum qualifying marks.
