SOF IEO syllabus is completely based on the school syllabus but focuses more on English communication and usage in everyday life. The exam pattern for the SOF IEO Olympiad is divided into four sections. Each section focuses on construction, usage, speaking, and writing skills.

Science Olympiad Foundation publishes its SOF International English Olympiad syllabus every year on the SOF official website. The syllabus for each class is different from the others. SOF IEO Syllabus is completely based on the NCERT books and the syllabus of the school textbooks.

SOF IEO Exam Pattern
IEO Olympiad 2024-25 syllabus is framed under the syllabus prescribed by the recognized education board in India. Though the syllabus is the same as the school pattern, there won't be any direct questions. IEO is conducted to enhance communication skills and encourage proper usage of the language.

SOF IEO Syllabus Class Wise
Questions in the achiever's section will be from the concepts learned in the current class only. Students should refer to the IEO reference books for preparation. The SOF IEO Olympiad syllabus for section 1 differs for every class, whereas the syllabus for sections 2, 3, and 4 remains the same for all the classes.
SOF IEO section details are as follows.
- Section 2 tests the ability to understand the information presented in passages, instruction manual format, etc. It also tests the ability to understand longer texts like editorials and essays.
- Section 3 focuses on students' ability to understand situations based on variations in functions like refusals, apologies, requests, etc.
- Section 4 consists of Higher-order thinking questions. The syllabus for these sections is the same as sections 1, 2, and 3.

There is no prescribed IEO syllabus for classes 11 and 12. For a better score, students can prepare using their current class syllabus and sample papers released by the Science Olympiad Foundation.
Note: Syllabus for the IEO level 2 exam is the same as the level 1 exam, but the level of difficulty is high for the International English Olympiad level 2.
