Its safe to say that PES has a huge reputation when it comes to bangalore, big names like Nutanix, Microsoft, Myntra and Amazon all come for freshers to PES. PES also has both the campuses taking parts in the placements together, so south campus students have equal opportunities when it comes to job opportunities, well i could say almost as equal, we're handicapped by the fact that we're still under VTU and VTU has no provision for internships longer than 4 weeks which doesnt sit well with companies looking for 6 month internships. On that front we do miss some of the opportunities, but PES is unrivaled when it comes to placement statistics.
The PES Electronic City campus is great architecturally speaking, it has State association level cricket ground, a couple of basketball courts, badminton courts and a football ground. The campus has a fair share of greenery. If you're a hostellite, the mess will be in the main campus, and the walks to the main gate will definitely keep you fit!
The hostel is better than most other colleges, its a round fee of around 1L and the food is decent, north indian food, with south indian breakfast(optional), there plenty of choices in the cafeteria and there are a couple of food trucks during college hours.
I got into PESIT through KCET, the cutoffs for my year were fairly high(around 1500 for CSE) but with PES becoming a university, the admissions will be based on their own PESSAT and KCET. The entrance exam level of PESSAT is fairly competitive (I've heard) and with the south campus gaining traction over the years it's getting just as tough to get in there through merit.
My advice, prep well on COMEDK UGET material, as the level of exams are similar.
Classes start a bit early, at 8 and we have 6 one hour long lectures and two breaks. College ends at 3:15.
The faculty is definitely more invested in your learning experience than most college professors, and the syllabus is completed on time, the teachers themselves will ease you into the transition between college teachers and university professors in the first couple of semesters so if you're a fresher and are worried about how you'll cope with the teaching there, dont.
All in all the syllabus is planned well, and the teaching is great.
Via KCET my annual tution fees are around 45k.
PES has a great reward based system for high scorers as everyone with a SGPA(Semester Grade Point Average) above 7.5 gets a cash reward of 500/- and students who score a 9.0 and above in each department get an even higher bonus as a part of the MRD scholarship program of about 10k per semester. PES also has a 30% fee waiver scholarships which are for the top 20% of the class every semester.
There are a bunch of student oriented clubs, with the most prominent IEEE and CompSoc, new clubs are started every year and seniors and teachers really help out with it.
