The Government of India and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs provide different ST scholarships to students from the Scheduled Caste (ST) communities. Scholarships are provided to help students to finance their higher studies. Various scholarship schemes for SC students in 2023 have created many opportunities for deserving applicants and have successfully imparted quality education to underprivileged students. The ST scholarships are introduced for SC-ST students and encourage them to complete their higher studies. The SC/ST scholarship eligibility criteria must be fulfilled to benefit from the scholarship scheme. Provided underneath are some of the top ST scholarships.

Pre-Matric Scholarship for ST Students
The Pre-matric scholarship scheme for ST students is a centrally sponsored scheme that invites applications from candidates who belong to the ST category studying in 9th and 10th. The candidate's parental income applying for this scholarship from all sources should not surpass INR 2,50,000 per annum. The selected applicants for SC-ST pre-matric scholarship 2023 are awarded worth INR 225 in case he/she is a day scholar and INR 525 per month for hostellers for 10 months in a year.

National Scholarship Scheme (Top Class) for Higher Education of ST Students
The National scholarship scheme (Top Class) for the higher education of ST students is initiated by the central government and is provided to ST category students. The qualified candidates are allowed to pursue higher studies in 246 premier institutes of the country, which are authenticated and identified by the Ministry. The candidates are selected based on the percentage scored in the 12th board examinations. In order to be suitable for the scholarship, the family income of the student's family should not be more than INR 6,00,000. The scholarship amount granted to the deserving applicants includes coverage of educational expenses and the benefit of other allowances.

Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for ST Students
The Post-matric scholarship scheme for ST students is centrally sponsored. It is presented to the ST Students and aids them in completing their higher education. Students pursuing any recognized course can register for this ST scholarship 2023. The applicant's family earnings should not be more than INR 2,50,000 per annum to become eligible for this SC-ST post-matric scholarship. The scholarship scheme covers the fees of educational institutions and other allowances, which may vary from INR 230 to INR 1200 per month according to the course they have undertaken.

National Overseas Scholarship Scheme
The National Overseas scholarship scheme is conducted for ST category students. It was formulated to assist the ST category students financially to complete their post-graduation courses without any hindrance. Upon selection, the candidate is given 2 years to seek admission to a foreign university. The annual family earnings of the student applying for this scholarship should not exceed INR 6,00,000. This ST scholarship includes tuition fees, an annual maintenance allowance of USD 15,400, contingency charges of USD 1,532, and other educational expenses.

National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education for ST Students
The National fellowship and scholarship for higher education for ST students is a centrally sponsored scheme and is given to those ST category students who want to pursue MPhil or Ph.D. The candidates are selected on a merit basis and are rewarded with a maximum amount of INR 28,000. As per the guidelines, contingency and HRA allowance are also given to fellows.

How to Apply on the Official Scholarship Portal?
The candidate can apply for the selected scholarships on the official website; they can follow the stepwise procedure listed below.
Step 1: The applicant must visit the official website of the concerned scholarships and register there.
Step 2: Next, they should click on "register here" to create a new profile and enter the valid details.
Step 3: A confirmation email link will be sent to the registered email ID; the candidate must click on the link to confirm the registration.
Step 4: Then, log in again with the given credentials to fill out the online application form, i.e., SC-ST scholarship form 2023.
Step 5: The applicant must enter the SC-ST application form's personal details and other required information.
Step 6: Upload the scan copies of all the required documents in jpg./pdf./png. formats.
Step 7: Lastly, they need to submit the application form and print it for future reference.

How to Apply on the National Scholarship Portal?
The candidates who fulfill the required eligibility criteria for the ST scholarships can register for the specific scholarships on the National Scholarship Portal. The applicants can follow the steps mentioned below:
Step 1: The qualified applicants must visit the official web page of the National Scholarship Portal.
Step 2: Next, they should first register into the portal for new users by providing the required information.
Step 3: Fill out the application as per the instructions mentioned on the website and click on the save button.
Step 4: Then, they will get a "temporary ID" after filling out the ST online application form. They should fill in the remaining details and complete the registration process.
Step 5: Next, a registration ID would be generated, which can be used on a future date to track the application status or for renewal.
Step 6: Lastly, after following the given instructions and submitting the required documents, they can submit the application form.
