JEE Main 2024: JoSAA Counselling, Paper 2 Result (Out), Cutoff, Toppers List

The JEE Main JoSAA counselling 2024 is being conducted by the Join Seat Allocation Authority from Jun 10, 2024 up to the first week of Aug, 2024. Candidates who have qualified for the JEE Mains 2024 can appear for the JoSAA seat allotment for IITs, IIITs, NITs and GFTIs.

The JEE Main session 2 paper 2 final answer key for B.Arch & B.Plan on 19th May 2024. Candidates can access their results on the official website jeemain.nta.ac.in and should regularly check for counselling and admission process updates.

Students can also review the JEE Main Toppers list 2024 for session 2 which was released shortly after the results. The minimum cutoff for JEE Main for general students is 91, and candidates under the reserved category must secure marks between 40 and 76.

The JEE Main 2024 provisional answer key for paper 2 was released on April 30, 2024. Students could refer to the response sheet and raise objections. However, the JEE Main 2024 session 2 paper 2 answer key objection window was closed on May 1, 2024.

National Testing Agency (NTA) was developed as an autonomous, specialist, and self-sustained testing organization responsible for conducting entrance examinations for admission to top educational institutions.

JEE Main JoSAA Counselling 2024

JEE Main 2024 counselling process is being conducted by JoSAA. The counselling schedule is released on the official website at josaa.nic.in. Since the JEE Advanced results were out the officials released the entire JoSAA Counselling schedule.

The candidates need to meet the eligibility conditions laid out by the institute to which they want admission. In addition, they should secure a minimum of 75% marks in their 12th standard board examination or be one among the top 20 percentile in their All India Senior School Certificate Examination or equivalent.

JEE Main admission process for each institute shall vary from the other. JEE Main 2024 Result

The National Testing Agency (NTA) declared the results of Session 2 paper 2 on 19th May 2024. The session 2 paper 1 result was released on April 24, 2024. Students can access the result using their login credentials.

JEE Main 2024 results were compiled and normalized for both sessions. The NTA released the modified rules for the tie-breaking criteria, which is required if two or more candidates score the same.

How to Download JEE Main 2024 Admit Card?

JEE Main Hall Ticket 2024 is not sent to any candidate's residential address. Instead, candidates need to download it through the official website. The steps for the same are shared below.

• Step 1: Candidates must go to the NTA JEE Main's 2024 official website - jeemain.nta.nic.in.
• Step 2: They must find the "Download admit card" link on the homepage, and click on it.
• Step 3: Applicants will now be directed to a login link.
• Step 4: They must enter their application numbers, date of birth, password, and security PIN correctly.
• Step 5: The candidates can now view and download their JEE Main 2024 hall tickets.
• Step 6: They must cross-check all the details on the admit card before downloading it.

JEE Main 2024 Self Declaration

The candidates must complete and carry the self-declaration form on the day of the examination. The JEE Main Self Declaration Form is printed on the JEE Main admit card's first page, which contains the details of the candidate's health status and travel history.

The city intimation slip of JEE Main 2024 comprises the exam date and test centre details. Students must note that the JEE intimation slip is not the JEE Main admit card. 

Furthermore, the JEE Main City intimation slip for session 1 was released on Jan 17, 2024, for the exam scheduled on Jan 27 - Feb 1, 2024.

JEE Main 2024 Exam Date

JEE Main 2024 session 2 was vised by the authority and the exam was held from Apr 4 - Apr 12, 2024. NTA conducted JEE Main Session 2 Shift 1 exam from 9 am to 12 noon. JEE Main 2024 session 2 shift 2 exam took place from 3 pm to 6 pm. Furthermore, NTA released the JEE Main Session 2 admit card on Apr 1, 2024 for the exam scheduled from Apr 4, 5, and 6, 2024.

However, the schedule was overlapping the CBSE exam dates. Hence, NTA has revised the schedule. The official dates for JEE Main exam dates 2024 for session 2 have been announced.

JEE Main 2024 exam date for session 1 was held from Jan 24 - Feb 1, 2024. The exam for JEE 2024 session 1 paper 2 (B.Arch and B.Plan) was conducted on Jan 24, 2024, in shift 2 (3 pm - 6 pm). JEE Main Exam Centres 2024

JEE Main 2024 exam city intimation slip for session 2 for B.Tech/B.Arch/B. Planning on Mar 27, 2024, for the exam scheduled on Apr 4 - 12, 2024. In addition, NTA released the JEE Main exam centre 2024 allotment slip for the paper 1 exam scheduled from Jan 27 - Feb 1, 2024, on Jan 17, 2024.

Candidates for session 1 JEE Main Paper 1 and 2 could access their exam city slip on the official website at jeemain.nta.nic.in. Candidates registered for the JEE Mains 2024 exam were able to download the advance city intimation slip using the login credentials generated at the time of registration.

NTA had revised the JEE Main exam centres 2024 list. As per the latest notification, JEE Main exam centres have been reduced from 394 to 300. Several existing exam cities have been removed from Madhya Pradesh and Bihar, including 2 Union Territories - Chandigarh and Daman & Diu.

JEE Main NTA exam was conducted in 25 foreign cities as NTA added 15 foreign cities as JEE Main exam centres. NTA has introduced 3 more test centres, which are based in India (Kargil, Ladakh) and overseas, at Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia and Abuja/ Lagos in Nigeria. In addition, Abu Dhabi was added as an exam centre after considering the request raised by the Ambassador of India, Abu Dhabi.

JEE Main exam centres 2024 are based in all the major cities across India. However, the candidates may choose up to JEE Main 4 centres where they would prefer to take the exam of JEE Main NIC IN. NTA will make the best efforts to allocate the JEE Main exam centre 2024 in the order of preference.

What's New in JEE Main 2024?

JEE Main 2024 exam will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in two sessions for B.E/B.Tech and B.Arch & B.Plan courses across various IITs, NITs, and other Government-funded and Government-aided colleges.

Interested candidates can apply for the JEE Mains 2024 exam on the official website - jeemain.nta.nic.in. NTA made numerous changes in 2021 due to the pandemic. These changes are also to be followed for JEE Main 2024. Some of these changes are listed below.

• Tie-Breaking Rules: NTA has modified the tie-breaking criteria. NTA JEE Main re-introduced age criteria and included the application number in ascending order as a new rule.
• Session Numbers: NTA JEE Main increased the total number of JEE Main sessions in 2021. However, for IIT JEE Mains, only two attempts are available per year for candidates to clear the JEE Main exam.
• Exam Languages: JEE Main 2024 will be held in 13 languages, including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

• Registration Fee Refund: If a candidate cannot appear for the JEE Main exam, they can claim a refund for their registration fee. They can claim the refund during the same registration session.
• Class 12 Score: To be eligible for admission via JEE Main 2024, candidates should have a minimum of 75% in class 12th. However, this criterion is removed for the actual exam, but it is required for admissions to accepting JEE Main colleges.

Difference Between JEE Main and JEE Advanced

The major differences between JEE Main and JEE Advanced have been shared below as pointers for the applicants.

• Qualifying the JEE Main is a pre-requisite for JEE Advanced.
• The conducting body for JEE Main is the National Testing Agency (NTA), and the conducting body for JEE Advanced is the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).
• A total of 3 attempts are allowed in the JEE Main exam, while only 2 are allowed in JEE Advanced. NTA considers attempting both sessions, i.e., January and April of the same year, as 1 attempt.

JEE 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who appeared for the JEE Main 2024, were required to make sure that they fulfil the JEE Main eligibility requirements shared by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs Participating Through Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB)

The following are the JEE Main 2024 educational requirements for candidates seeking admission in B.E, B.Tech, B.Arch, and B.Plan courses across the various participating NITs, IIITs and GFTIs through the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB).

For B.E./B.Tech

Applicants must check the eligibility details for the B.E/B.Tech courses are shared below.

• The candidates must have passed 10+2 or any other equivalent examination with Mathematics and Physics as mandatory subjects, along with one among the following subjects - Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational.

For B.Arch

• JEE Main eligibility criteria for B.Arch have been relaxed for the current academic Session. The candidates were earlier required to score a minimum of 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, combined.
• However, for JEE Main Session 2024-2025, the aggregate is relaxed to 'just pass' 12th Class with PCM subjects/10+3 diploma in Mathematics or the aforementioned subject combination.

JEE Main 2024 Reservation

As per the rules laid out by the Government of India, a fixed percentage of seats is reserved for specific categories. JEE Main applicants who belong to these categories are also given several relaxations in age and marks scored in the qualifying examination.

JEE Main applicants must specify the type and percentage of their disability accurately in the online form for JEE Main 2024.

• Scribe/Reader: JEE Main 2024 applicants who have a disability that exceeds the 39% mark have the discretion of opting for a scribe or a reader. Candidates may submit the request to the JEE Main exam centre superintendent for the same.
• Essentials for Reader or Scribe: Once the request is made, JEE Main centre superintendent will identify the scribe/reader. The candidate would be permitted to meet the scribe one day before to JEE Main 2024 examination to verify the scribe's suitability.

JEE Main 2024 Documents Details

Applicants need to enter the following details in the prescribed format as shared below. They must ensure to provide all the details correctly.

• Photograph: Applicants must upload their photo in jpg.jpeg format and the size should be within 10 to 200 KB.
• Signature: Candidates need to upload their scanned signature with a dimension of 3.5 cm width and 1.5 cm height. The size should be within 4 to 30 KB in jpg.jpeg format.

NTA JEE Main Application Form Important Announcement

Furthermore, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has made an important announcement concerning minor adjustments to the JEE Main 2024 application process specifically for students from Tamil Nadu who are part of the 2021 batch.

The announcement addresses the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the academic year 2021, during which the Class 10 and Class 12 examinations in Tamil Nadu were not conducted. Consequently, students were declared passed, and no marks were recorded on their mark sheets.

In light of this, the governing body has taken the decision that students from Tamil Nadu belonging to the 2021 batch who are applying for JEE Main 2024 are not required to submit any marks or CGPA.

These candidates have been advised to select 'Passing year' as 2021, and the result mode field will be deactivated for them. It is important to note that this directive applies to those who have already completed their applications and paid the required fee.

NTA JEE Mains 2024 Exam Pattern

JEE Main 2024 Exam Pattern Important Pointers

• Question Type: The first and the second papers will have various Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Drawing is a subjective type of paper.
• Topics: JEE Main question paper 2024 will comprise the following topics:
• Paper-I: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics,
• Paper II: Aptitude Test, Mathematics, and Drawing
• Duration: The candidates will be given 180 minutes to solve the entire JEE Main 2024 question paper.
• Marking Scheme: Four marks will be awarded for every correct answer, and one mark will be deducted for incorrect answers. For drawing, two questions will be asked for 100 marks.
• Alternative Section: JEE Main new pattern was introduced in JEE Main 2024 exam; there will be no negative marking in the additional 15 alternative questions. All candidates must attempt 75 questions out of 90, which can be further identified as 25 out of the 30 in each section, i.e., Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
• Language: NTA JEE Main 2024 can now be attempted in 13 different languages, including English, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil, Odiya, and Urdu.

Section-Wise Exam Pattern for JEE Main 2024 Paper-I (Revised)

The JEE exam has four papers and each subject will have two sections. Section A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs), and section B will contain questions with numerical values as answers.

In section B, candidates will be required to answer any five questions out of 10. Incorrectly attempted questions in section B will lead to negative markings according to the revised marking scheme.

JEE 2024 Slot Booking

JEE Main slot booking 2024 process is not available for the registered students. Currently, no candidates are allowed to book slots manually. The exam date and time are scheduled by the NTA.

The exam centres are allotted as per the preferences chosen by the students during the registration process. JEE Main admit card are issued to all the registered candidates and it includes exam date, duration, shift, exam centre details, and more. 

JEE Mains 2024 Mock Test

NTA JEE Mains 2024 mock tests were made available on the mobile application of NTA (National Test Abhyas). Candidates registered for the exam can practise the mock test by downloading the NTA mobile application and logging in using their credentials.

In addition, JEE Main 2024 free mock tests and study materials are provided on the official website at nta.ac.in. JEE Main is one of the most difficult exams conducted by the NTA agency.

Therefore, the candidates are advised to take JEE Main mock tests and also go through the question papers of the last 4-5 years. For practice, candidates can also download various sets of JEE Main question papers from previous years.

Steps to Take JEE Main Mock Test 2024 by NTA Mobile Application

Candidates can practise JEE Main mock test 2024 on the NTA mobile application by following the steps mentioned below.

• Step 1: Candidates must download the NTA (National Test Abhyas) mobile application.
• Step 2: Applicants must log in using their registered email ID and password.
• Step 3: A list of different tests will appear on the screen, from which the candidates can choose the mock test.
• Step 4: Candidates can take the test after carefully reading the instructions.

NTA JEE Mains 2024 Response Sheet

JEE Main 2024 response sheets for the exam have been released along with the provisional answer key on the official website on Feb 6, 2024. The response sheet is the official copy of students' responses to the JEE Main questions asked in the JEE Main exam.

The JEE Main response sheet is released within 5 days after the National Testing Agency conducts JEE Main exam. Candidates should remember that the JEE Main response sheet and JEE Main answer key are two different things. The details for the same are shared below.
