1. NID Ahmedabad
NID Ahmedabad works under the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. In addition, the Government of India, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, recognizes NID as a scientific and industrial design research organization.
NID's campuses offer 100 undergraduate seats and 285 postgraduate seats.

2. NID Bangalore
Also known as the National Institute of Design (NID) R&D Facility, NID Bangalore was established in 2006 by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Information Technology, the Government of India, and the Department of Policy and Promotion Industry (DIPP).
Initially, NID Bengaluru offered only two research-intensive master's programs - Design for Digital Experiences and Design for Retail Experiences. Currently, the design school offers five graduate programs to students.

3. NID Amaravati
In September 2015, the National Institute of Design was established in Andhra Pradesh as the second autonomous multidisciplinary design institute under the Department of Promotion of Indian Industry and Trade.
This is the first NID implemented under the national design policy, GOI, after 5 decades of existence by the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. 6 semesters of study in industrial design, communication design, or textile design based on student choice and performance in basic studies.

4. NID Gandhinagar
Located in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, the NID Gandhinagar campus offers a full-time residential M.Des (Master of Design) program in seven fields (lifestyle accessory design, clothing design, design) new media design, toy and game design, photography design, Strategic Design Management, and Transportation & Automotive Design), at this time.
The campus is home to facilities and resources (knowledge management centre, central workshop (wood/metal), laser cutting, CNC machines, 3D printing, digital labs, and laboratories industry-specific labs/studios) that provide students with a variety of learning and support that activities opportunities for them to improve their creativity.

5. NID Kurukshetra
The National Institute of Design, Kurukshetra, Haryana was established on 15th November 2016 as an autonomous institute under the Department for the Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Trade and Industry, Government of India.

6. NID Madhya Pradesh
Madhya Pradesh's National Institute of Design is an autonomous educational institute in Bhopal. A green residential campus, the NID Madhya Pradesh campus, is nestled against a hilly backdrop.
At present, the NID Madhya Pradesh has an intake capacity of 75 students for a four-year B.Des with specializations in Industrial Design, Communication Design, and Textile and Apparel Design.

7. NID Assam
The National Institute of Design (NID), Assam is a self-governing organization of national importance under the Department for the Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Trade and Industry, Government of India was incorporated in Jorhat under the NID (Amendment) Act 2019 passed by the Parliament of India.
It is an institution established to provide training in design and has a mission to award the Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) degree. NID Assam's presence in Jorhat offers great opportunities for young creative talents and aspiring designers in North East India and across the country.

Admission Process for NID Colleges in India
A student's performance in the NID Entrance Exam determines their admission to all the courses offered by NID. For NID admissions, there are two stages - NID DAT Prelims and NID DAT Mains.
- Applicants to the B.Des, GDPD, and M.Des courses must take the DAT Preliminaries.
- Following this admission round, applicants are eligible for NID DAT Main, where they must take the Studio Test and Personal Interview.
- As part of the final NID result, the candidate's DAT Prelims score is 30% weightage, and the mains score is 70%.
