Anugrah Narayan College was established in the year 1956 in January. It was the inspiration from a sagacious leader of Bihar Dr. Anugrah Narayan Sinha that led to the establishment of the college. The institute was first located in Patna High School and started its operation as an evening school to facilitate academic opportunities to the employees working in various institutions. It was then known as Gardanibagh Tutorial College. Later, in 1959, the college was shifted to its new location and was renamed as Anugrah Narayan College.

Anugrah Narayan College has 24 UG departments and 23 PG departments. After the early establishment of the college, many courses like B.C..A, B.B.M, M.C.A, M.B.A, and Biotechnology were added. The AN College Patna is funded by a number of agencies like UGC, UNICEF, Dept, of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, etc to conduct various research activities.

AN College has achieved the CPE status by UGC. More highlights about the university are mentioned below:

The college has a partnership with Erasmus Mundas Academy Exchange program,’ EURINDIA’, which is sponsored by the European Commission. This program provides eligible students and faculties to receive scholarships to conduct research in reputed European Universities.

The college also encourages the students to take part in cultural and sports activities. It has a number of trained and qualified faculties to impart knowledge. It offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the fields of Art, Science, Education, Management, Computer Application, etc. The AN College admission is based on merit.
