The CMR Group of Institutions was established by the CMR Jnanadhara Trust in the year 1990, as a tribute to the educationalist and philanthropist late Sri Chikka Muniyappa Reddy. The group aims to impart quality education to each and every individual. The CMR group has grown over the years and is recognised as the best educational group in the region.

This group established the CMR University under the CMR University Act in 2013. It is a private university. The University aims to promote and undertake the advancement of education across plenty of disciplines such as engineering, management, architecture, law and other allied sectors of higher and professional training.

The CMRU School of Architecture was established in the year 2015-2016. The institute provides an excellent education in the niche field of architecture. It imparts quality education to students with the help of practical and theoretical sessions.

The school believes in the pursuit of performance and output of the faculty and students in a focused manner, making CMRU one of the top universities for B.Arch in India. The CMR University School of Architecture has the approval of the Council of Architecture, New Delhi, the statutory body regulating Architectural Profession and Education in India. CMRU School of Architecture B.Arch:

The duration of the course is full-time for 5 years. The course gives the candidate an in-depth exposure to the field of architecture. The institute has a panel of trained and experienced faculty members who guide students and help them achieve their goals.

• It has well equipped professional quality drawing equipment like Easels, side tables, etc. 
• The School of Architecture coordinated the 2nd CMR National Art Camp in November 2015 and 3rd CMR National Art Camp in November 2018, where 25 artists from across the country participated in a weeklong art camp to create paintings and woodcut prints, and sculpture for the CMR art repository.

• CMR Memorial Scholarship is awarded to those students who are in need of financial aid.
• The students' eligible for this scholarship is decided by CMR Scholarship Committee.
