IIT Madras Placements 2024: Highest & Average Salary Package, Top Companies

Indian Institute of Technology Madras placement 2024 has concluded. Both phases of the placement activities have finished. 256 companies have participated in the latest Indian Institute of Technology Madras placements 2024, and 1091 students were placed. As per the last report, over 80% of students at IIT Madras were enrolled in BTech and dual degree programs, and 75% in MTech programs.

The IIT Madras average package offered during this drive is INR 22 Lakh per annum.  The highest package available to MBA students was INR 29.65 LPA, while the average package was INR 16.93 LPA. IIT Madras Placement Highlights 2024

As for the IIT Madras placement 2024, details have not been released yet by the institute. As per the details shared by the media, a total number of 256 companies visited and 1,091 students were placed.

According to the official website of IIT Madras, for placement 2023, among the 1612 offers received, around 172 offers are with a salary package greater than or equal to INR 30 LPA. IIT Madras Placement Statistics 2024

IIT Madras placement statistics have been constantly rising almost every year. Statistics of IIT Madras placements like year-wise placement offers, sector-wise placements, IIT Madras salary trends, etc., are given below. More than 80% of BTech/ Dual Degree and 75% of Master degree students have been placed till April 30, 2024.

IIT Madras Year-wise Placement Offers

The number of students placed during the Indian Institute of Technology placements of 2024 was 1091, though the institute has yet not released the data of offers made during IIT Madras placement 2024.

IIT Madras Sector-wise Placements

As per the media reports, the 40% of students placed at IIT Madras placements in 2024 were offered positions in the Core sector, with 20% of offers going to the Software sector. 

During IIT Madras placements in 2022, the most number of students, 27.6%, were placed in the Core sector. The Core sector is followed by IT (14.9%) and Consulting (14.3%) sectors. The statistics of sector-wise IIT Chennai placements for all the programs are tabulated below.

IIT Madras Salary Trend

For 2024, the IIT Madras Salary trends have not yet been disclosed. The median package for IIT Madras 2024 batch is INR 19.60 LPA.

Around 312 offers received during the 2023 placements had a package of INR 15 to 20 LPA. The next highest was 226 offers with a salary package range of INR 10 to 15 LPA. The following table shows the IIT Madras salary trend for all programs.

The IIT Madras highest package 2023, INR 1.31 CPA, was offered for the students of the B.Tech/ DD/ IDDD course. M.Tech course had the highest package of INR 54.21 LPA during the IIT Madras placements of 2022-23. B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering received the IIT Madras highest package in 2023, INR 1.31 CPA. Civil Engineering received the highest package of INR 76.5 LPA. However, the highest median package, INR 30.00 LPA, was recorded by M.Sc in Computer Science. IIT Madras Placement Cell

IIT Madras has a placement cell, formally known as the Career Development Cell (CDC), that works vigorously to provide students with insights and guide them regarding various career paths and prepare students for their Placements and Internship recruitment process. The IIT Madras placement cell organises various events to train and guide students. The Career Development Cell initiated a series called 'A Day in the Job'. This series aims to give students a sneak peek into jobs in various sectors, the nature of work, pros and cons, how to land the job, and exit options. 

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras placement cell organises two sessions of mock tests, interviews, and GDs in collaboration with various testing agencies. The cell also conducts multiple skill-building sessions and workshops to prepare students. Resume-building sessions and resume archives are also provided by the IIT Chennai placement cell. IIT Madras Placement Procedure

The IIT Madras placements season usually starts in the first week of July with sending invites to the companies. Tests usually start in the second or third week of September and the interview process starts in the first week of December. The step-by-step process of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras placements is given below.

The internship team of IIT Madras makes sure that internship guidance is provided for all 1300 students from 3rd-year B.Tech and Dual Degree, 4th-year Dual Degree and MA, 1st-year MBA, M.Tech and 8 Inter-Disciplinary streams, every year.

Internship season usually starts in the month of August and a rolling process happens throughout the season with over 150 companies participating. Students were able to grab 778 internship offers from 140+ companies during the 2022-23 internship drive. Students who have performed exceptionally well in the internship will receive full-time opportunities known as pre-placement offers. IIT Madras students have attracted 350 PPOs in 2022- 23 compared to 231 pre-placement offers in the preceding placement season.

IIT Madras Sector-wise Internship Stipend Offered

The highest stipend offered during 2022-23, INR 12.0 Lakhs per month, was jointly offered by the companies from Financial Services and IT & Software Development sectors. The lowest stipend, INR 7,500 per month, was offered by the Engineering and Technology sector. IIT Madras UG Specialisation-wise Stipend Offered

Among UG specialisations, students of Computer Science and Engineering & Electrical Engineering collectively received the highest stipend of INR 13.30 Lakhs per month during the 2022-23 season.
